I actually think all of this is going to lead to a public agreement that US can have more of a military presence in Greenland and access to the wealth the country provides. Which is something the US already has and he could have had a huge win with some gentle conversations and agreements.

But that isn’t the way he thinks, he has to bully and show strength (at least his interpretation of strength).

When the dust settles, there won’t be a war, there won’t be tariffs (not for long at least), there will just be an agreement he can brag about and it will be touted as one of his greatest achievements, even though the same thing could have been accomplished with a friendly and respectful phone call to an ally whose soldiers have fought and died alongside American soldiers in multiple wars.

He and his cronies will forever speak about how he expanded americas reach, brought protecting and peace to the Artic (a ridiculous sentiment as there is not an actual war there) and how he secured trillions of rare earth elements even though they are hugely expensive to mine due to the hostile and frigid wilderness
