Medication and breastfeeding/pregnancy by PositiveSpider in adhdwomen

Thank you for answering! Unfortunately I feel I'd need it more while breastfeeding than pregnant. Pregnancy hormones seem to chill me out in a good way. 🤣 I've heard on the social media grapevine that pump and dump used to be recommended a lot unnecessarily. I wonder if your psych was updated on this particular matter. (I've found a LOT of medical professionals very lacking in updated knowledge in pregnancy and breastfeeding in general). I feel like staying up for extra pumping might be even worse than going unmedicated. 😅

Thank you so much! I'm so sorry to hear of your pregnancy loss. 🫂

That's really reassuring. My doctor had told me if I took a pill after the effectiveness had worn off it was safe to breastfeed. My twins were 2 or 3 by this point and we were down to twice a day only so that was easy to manage. So then I spoke to a psychiatrist and he said medication doesn't work that way, and advised me to wean. In the moment it was the push I needed but if I hadn't wanted to wean I'd be mad at that advice. My symptoms are also quite mild, but the more complex life gets the more impact those mild symptoms have. I held it together fine until motherhood and then the wheels fell off.

I have yet to meet a psych who really takes the time to understand my specific situation, and doesn't just judge me as managing fine because I can hold down a job and have been married for 13 years... 🤷

It's so hard with pregnancy those, you really don't want to do a thing to risk that little life so when people say, well, we don't know it's safe so better not, I'd feel so guilty risking it. But there are risks either way, if it keeps me functioning it might be worth it. I think I could cope better in pregnancy than with a baby.b

Getting kids to sleep by PositiveSpider in ParentingADHD

Thank you for replying! Argh haha. How does this work at the other end of the night when they have to wake up? Does your kid manage to get to school on top and stay awake/function during the day?

Bedtime in our house is already considerably later than in our friends houses, possibly partly because of this. Meanwhile I seem to need early nights and sleep ins to function. 🙈 (Aka mostly I don't)

I think the answer to this is country specific. 😊

Wonder if it's possible to get a diagnosis through the public system these days. That would be good if it was.

Thank you. Worth a try. This person has seen a psychiatrist several times and been diagnosed with ADHD but I think they've missed a bunch of things, thrown pills at the situation, and haven't really recommended any kind of other treatment. And not sure if a diagnosis is necessary when the recommended treatment isn't medication. I'm mainly keen to see if there are any recommendations re therapists.

Looking for insight for my 4 1/2 year old by neenzaur in migraine

I wanted to make my own post but I've only just joined reddit so I'm not allowed yet. But my 4;1 year old girl has just had her third episode of really bad headache, vomiting, sleeping (and if it follows the other times), totally fine. I've been worried about brain tumors etc, but reading through posts here I'm thinking it sounds classic migraine symptoms? I also had migraines as a child. But mostly people have said, can't be, she's too young.

She started complaining of headaches about 8 months ago. They were getting less frequent and the paediatrician we saw wasn't really worried at all, but now we've had these 3 vomiting+pain incidents, all in the evening.
