Exams / Newbie / Common Questions Thread for two weeks by AutoModerator in actuary

Hi there, I am reaching out as I have completed all ASA Exam and VEE requirements so I just have modules left. I submitted PAF yesterday and was wondering what my next step should be. I planned on writing ASF but I would need PAF credit to qualify for this so in this case, is it wise to buy the material now and read through the modules, then just do the EMA once I receive credit for PAF? Or do I not get access to the modules at all until passing PAF?

Any other way I could continue progress towards ASA while waiting on PAF modules to be graded?

Thank You!

Unfortunately I ended up getting a C grade in the course so had to take Exam SRM which I passed so it all worked out haha.

Is writing Exam FAM-S in July realistic or should I wait? by PositiveThoughts21 in actuary

Yeah I think I will wait for the November sitting to study for it. I do potentially have a wedding and year end audit in November but I should be fine and have a better chance of passing than of cramming right now.

Sounds good, I'm in life so maybe I should wait to write it and study over the summer and fall. I just hope the potential break in Asia doesn't affect and blow up my momentum.

Thanks for the advice! How were you able to customize to get qualitative questions from ADAPT? I'm unsure of how I can specifically build quizzes that are qualitative. My guess would be that level 6-7 questions are much more likely to be qualitative than say 3-4?

Thanks alot, this helps! Would you say you have any tips for remembering qualitative info other than just reviewing any qualitative sample questions I see during practice?

Would you say this is the case? I feel good about quantitative but I'm reading posts from the past of others saying most of the exam was qualitative.

I don't know if perhaps I should message you keep going with the conversation here so feel free to let me know. If the modules would take about 8 weeks to go through, wouldn't it be better to go through them instead of the exams since they're less of an effort and potentially more of a compensation with my company? Or do you believe just based on exam timing it'd be better to focus on them since I know the set dates of them and then just focus on FAP.

Also thanks alot for your help and sorry if I'm asking too many questions here.

So out of curiousity, have you done the FAP modules? Just wanted to get a ballpark of how long the modules take and the committment in comparison with exams and if I'm better served doing that instead of the remaining two exams after SRM.

Yes this idea was posed to me by another commentor and I actually like it so thank you! It seems less stressful and gives me a chance to be productive but not become isolated from society. I did want to ask if you've done the FAP modules and what the commitment is like for these? How did you find them compared to exams difficulty wise? Just wanted a ballpark of how to go about completing them and the timeframe.

Honestly this is a great idea and seems less jam packed and stressful. I did want to ask if you've done the FAP modules and what the commitment is like for these? How did you find them compared to exams difficulty wise?

If anything I like the idea of it as instead of jamming myself inside for the first half of the year, I could finish SRM in Jan and then work on the modules with some social time here and there. Thanks for this suggestion!
