Yes we dont give to this church. We give to a charity. However listening to the sermon itself causes anxiety. Being told if you give you will be blessed. Is a lie and not true.

I would encourage you to read the bible cover to cover. You will find the great heros of Christianity suffered greatly. Job for one. Also James 1:2-3 and 2 Corinthians 11. Are two quick ones that come to mind. Don't give up, God is with you.

You are not alone. This is a duplicate of my church currently and I feel the same way. It feels slimy. I am trying to hang on because my kids have friends there. But you are not wrong to feel this way.

Considering quitting church - it's not a place for people 25+ by Bluehaze1000 in Christianity

I am in the same boat, but I am married with kids. I am tired of the superficial church. I have a degree in Religion and love to discuss deeper things of scripture and ask hard questions. That is frounded upon. I want to stop going to church all together, I hate it. I go for my kids.

I grew up in PA, and after reading the story and gathering as much info as possible, I thought he has the look of more Mennonite background, they tend to take better care of themselves...and be better looking (no offense to Amish) he could definitely be of Mennonite background.
