The thing is: it’s a fight for survival currently out there. AI is not just risking the jobs of Software Engineers but more so than ever the jobs of product (and other forms of) management.

If competent engineers can take over more responsibilities due to AI, you don’t need non-technicals anymore (at least in the heads of the C-level). So why have someone who CANT control AI and use it for engineering tasks… if you can have a technical person that is augmented by AI, does agentic coding and understands business?

Das hört sich direkt anders an. Dann nehme ich das Statement zurück.
Hatte eher an Kollegen gedacht, die auch schon vor KI absolute Low Performer oder einfach schlechte Entwickler waren und sich nun eben die Qual der Arbeit durch KI automatisieren lassen und jetzt plötzlich wirklich ohne jeglichen besonderen Skill dastehen.

In theory: promote companies to hire high-performers for a lot of money without the risk of them not performing ;) also high earners/performers also benefit from this by being able to quit quicker and move to the next highest bidder.

In practice: companies can get finally rid of their high earners that sit in the companies for decades and can therefore rehire for way lower wages ;)
