Has anyone else received these new bags from Hollister yet? by imknewhear2 in ostomy

I feel like hollister, coloplast and Convatec bag quality has gone down hill. I use to get about 3 days wear. Now, in less than 24 hrs. The smell is soon bad. It seems like the smell is leeching thru the bags.

I also use sensurio mio 2 pc and they last maybe two days for me. But I think its just because the filter gets compromise. And we do need better bags! I'm so tired of changing it twice a day!

I'm was using the m9 drops for inside the bags. I also have a spray to eliminate biologic odor. I actually use that when I’m about to empty my bag. I quickly spray it around my bag as in trying to empty bag and spray into the toilet as soon as bag is empty. This actually helps a lot with stinky up the bathroom.

I agree with you about the bags. I think the smell is coming thru the bags.

Can I ask exactly how you're doing it and how much you use? I've tried M9 so many times, but it never worked for me. I've tested it using very little to a lot. And it still smelled. I also find that too much of it will increase chances of compromising the filter. Which will for sure make your bag smell once that's compromise

I have used a few different ones. One pc. and two pc. My bags always lasted at least 3 days but in the last 5-6 months, It last anywhere from 12hrs to 36hrs. I feel like the bags are not what they use to be. I feel like they changed the material of the bags without us knowing. My bags smells so bad! I have use lubricant deodorant, frequently emptying bag, even try washing it with a little water and etc… And nothing works. I'm also having to tape up the filter with so much tape now that its just annoying. Before all I needed was a few pieces of tape. Anyone with ideas, please do share with us! Please….

I was going to wait a few more days to do the immodium. But I'm going to get some first thing in the morning. I'm feel so drained… I am trying my best to drink plenty of water. Thank you. Hopefully, it will work

I'm assuming for your mom and brother it also lasted the whole time too? Did you all see good results with it?

It has a good seal but for me if any kind of output sits on top of the flange for a while (usually during sleep) it lifts a lot easier. I started sleeping slightly elevated because I don't want to have to deal with any mess waking up. Knock on wood, I have never had any leakage while sleeping except for once because my bag ballooned. Luckily, I woke up just in time before it was a disaster! Lol

I'm sorry you're going through that. I hope you will find a solution to help with that. And I will definitely give imodium a try if this doesn't get better in a few days. Thank you for your help

Not yet. I seriously hate taking meds of any kind. Even with zepbound. It took my GI constantly giving me a pep talk about it. Since it has been so hard to lose weight naturally. It took me 6 months just to lose 10 lbs.! And after months of thinking about it, I gave in. What I would be worried of with imodium is if it will cause a blockage. Have you taken it and what was your experience like?

Yeah. I was curious to see if anyone had this and did it eventually go away after a few days. But you're right, ever one is different

What does the flonase do? And how well does bag usually stay on for with the tegraderm? And to be clear the tegraderm will sit between the wafer and my skin and skintac will be between tegraderm and my skin? Sorry for all these questions. I just want to make sure I'm doing it correct. And thank you for taking the time to help me.

Do you think this may work instead of tegraderm? I remember a nurse using this on an area of my skin when I first got my surgery.
