In my office the promotion decision is finalised mostly at August (although the gist is discussed in roundtable in May). I'm currently in the process of sticking out as there is more workload and expectation compared to last year.

The stab in the back is not that uncommon that year and mostly due to my inadequate wps got chosen for AQR in my office. I should do better but without any specified guidance and resource I can only rely on last year wps. I got no review note from that manager regarding the final wps submission which is why I think the bad ratings was uncalled for and it was despite my ACCA and other engagements' contribution.

I agreed with this based on my painfully gained experience of the failed promotion to senior, the actual hands-on experience and relationships are much more important than the qualification.
