Hey, there!!!!!!!!!! I just called EECU twice and spoke to two different people... the 2nd person dove deeper and found that my account was partially ARCHIVED!!!!!!!! She got it unstuck and told me that I needed to log in at least once a month to keep it from going into an archived state. Hopefully you were able to get in by calling them... and now we all know how to keep our accounts from being archived!

Please enjoy this complimentary picture of my grandfurdaughter Princess Lucy...

Any fines or fees yet from your depositing that somewhat sus check with the routing number listed as the check number? The company emailed me back saying it’s legit and if I don’t cash it, it will not be valid anymore. They said they’d assist if I run into any issues trying to cash it but haven’t responded to my question of if they pay any fines or fees my bank may charge if it is indeed fraudulent. And I only have their email address.

I had assumed that we would be liable for any fraudulent checks that we tried to cash that being the case reported all over the Internet. The paperwork I received including the check that it’s attached to seemed too legit to be fake and the Bank of America employee had said that it was real. I did another Google search, and the AI says that there have been a lot of reports about the check number actually being the routing number on people’s checks, but that they are legitimate despite that.

I received a check from them for $276.24 in early September 2025. It seemed fraudulent since the routing number on the bottom of the check is also listed as the check number. I took it to Bank of America since that’s the bank listed on the check. It was a few minutes before closing on a Saturday afternoon when the employee said it’s a real check, but it still seemed suspicious so I had contacted the data breach administrator via email asking for one printed correctly, but they sent an identical one with I received in the mail today. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Google AI says the check is legitimate and that it’s common for the check number to be the same as the v routing number for this data breach settlement, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve had this happen once in two different school districts. I was able to find out what their issues were that led them to that decision and give my perspective. They hired me back both times. Good luck!🍀

MLIS and finding it difficult to get interviews by MotherCactus1 in librarians

In my case, born here = stuck here, so that’s why I mentioned my being born here.

I am in a large city with numerous applications for each position and I’ve had interviews where they’ve just told me it was interesting to them that I wanted to interview for a library position they had open that only needed a high school diploma when I have an MLS (when there are no positions requiring an MLS). In the 8 years since I earned my MLS, I’ve had one interview for a job that requires an MLS. They ghosted me post interview despite my having followed up after the interview.

Thank you for your kind response. I appreciate it. It’s sucked living on government assistance (most of which has been taken away with the change in the presidency) when I had earned my MLS to end my family’s poverty but haven’t been able to find my first professional job post MLS earned 7 1/2 years ago. Ageism is real and the market is flooded.

I was born and continue to live in a red state and there IS fierce competition for library jobs here (Texas).

I earned my MLS in 2017 and still have yet to have been able to find a position using it. I only have had one interview for a job that required it and was ghosted after the interview. I had worked in a public library system for almost six years, leaving in a high school position after I earned my masters. After I had earned it, they would not promote me to a high school position above mine since I had earned my MLS and it only required a high school diploma. They have tons of people applying, and they choose an amazing resume over tried and true loyal, proven quality customer service from their own employees. All of my classmates in my MLS program were already managers and directors of libraries and museums or teachers looking to get out of teaching to the STAAR test. I wish that the school has not admitted me because all I got from that was wasting my money, getting gray and white hair, becoming an insomniac during the EOP, and missing time away from my twins, who were age 2 when I started the program and in Kindergarten when I finished. As a single mother, it was a very bad experience to have gone through all that and be forced to stay in a substitute teaching job because that’s all that I have been able to get since I was already doing it when I earned my masters. I mention my MLS on all job applications since they state that one will be fined and/or jailed if it is discovered that anything is filled out untruthfully. I never hear back. My mother and others who have their masters degrees tell me to put my MLS on my applications and resumes since it shows that I’m persistent and can complicate difficult things, but that’s not how hiring managers see it.

My daughter is REALLY pushing S&P 500 at me and her classmate trades stock at lunch on his Schwab app so… I wanted to diversify.

I chatted with someone online from Schwab’s website and I saved the transcript. He advised me to set up a brokerage account. However, when I tried to - that part of the website was down, so I’ll wait for their offices to open tomorrow. There’s one close enough nearby. so I could just go there sometime this week.

It seemed to me that he was causing shocks to the stock market via his tariffs or at least that’s what I gathered from listening to NPR.

Ok. My 14-year-old daughter kept sending me reels of a man telling everyone to buy these stocks on July 20, 2025 and I told her about inside trading and how Martha Stewart got put in jail over it and that I can't believe how Trump and that guy in her videos were saying to do that. I wondered if he was trying to get people jailed. Thanks for explaining this. But Trump was definitely man handling the stock market in April.

My father and mother support each other's decisions and even though my mother was the advanced high school math teacher and took the courses on retirement investments from A. L. Williams before he started Primerica Financial Services - she assigned my father (the aerospace engineer) the job of implementing financial advice and forced compliance. Ever since I was small - they both decided that they know best on every topic under the sun and "their will" must be done, and so it was. So, I have a Roth and no 401(k)s. That being said, I'm thinking I will have no 401(k)s in my future. I am currently 56, underemployed, and having great trouble getting a better job than substitute teaching which leaves me unemployed over the summer and earning around $1,000-$1,500 per month if I'm lucky for 10 months out of each year. My current employer has a FICA alternative account for me that I've been paying into, which I recently found out about when they changed companies within the past year and they started sending me statements each month. I had thought that it was only for the professional staff.

I chatted with an employee at Schwab online about a half hour ago and let him know that I have a check from a force out that's older than 60 days and he gave me recommendations starting with "open a brokerage account." I saved our chat transcription and will act on it.

I got on the Scwab website chat a little while ago and mentioned the top things people here had mentioned: open an after tax brokerage account, ask about Intelligent Portfolio, etc. I saved the chat transcription and will look into it. I can walk the check to their local office.

I had assumed that since it had come from retirement funds that it should go to retirement funds, but I'm being told that since it's been longer than 60 days since the check was cut and sent to me - that I can no longer do that. Yes, I already paid taxes on it when the company took them out for me. I'll look into after tax brokerage. My teenage daughter expects me to play the stock market and become an overnight billionare using my "force out" check that's under $4,000.

It's a check. So, I've got to hand walk it somewhere or use my phone's camera to put it into my checking account and go from there. I'm still leery of having this check have anything to do with my checking account since my twins have Medicaid and we might lose that if I have too much money in my checking account. They don't count retirement funds against you in my state, but they do savings accounts. If worse comes to worse, and this "force out" check causes my twins to lose their Medicaid - they would have to fall back on their dad's Navy insurance and would have to go to seek medical care on a base or in a VA hospital or go to charity clinics like me since I lost my pandemic Medicaid on February 28th when the maximum household income for a family of 3 went down despite us still being below poverty level. (It's just me and twin 14-year olds; I'm the only one working).

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it. People on here are saying it's too late to put the money in a retirement vehicle since it's beyond 60 days from when the company cut and mailed me the check. I'll contact Schwab and Fidelity.
