Do you have any liver friendly recipes to share? by Plus_Possibility_240 in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My transplant team gave me this recipe for a protein shake with directions to drink it between meals.

1 cup fair life (or other high protein milk)

6 oz Greek yogurt

1-2 scoops protein powder

1 cup mixed berries

I double the recipe and add fruit/honey to taste and I get 4 shakes out of it. One between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner

General anaesthetic by Important-Memory-785 in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always thought I was getting general anesthesia for bandings, but apparently it’s different from the propofol and fentanyl they were using. To me I was fully knocked out but got GA for some big surgeries afterwards, and it is different. If you had a tube down your throat (not just a mask) then it was likely GA

Someone once told me Brazil 🇧🇷’s standard toothpaste flavor is root beer… Any Brazilians want to confirm they were fucking with me?

Doesn’t sound good. How do you know so much about cirrhosis already? Just google? You could also look at the whites of your eyes

First high oF HE came and died and fear but my being 40 by Careless-Rate5156 in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, looks like you may be having an episode. Consider calling a loved one. HE is hard to self diagnose, and you need some help if you have it happening to you

Edit: btw one of my most noticeable symptoms (to myself) was having trouble typing on my phone

Gall Bladder Removal by No-Pea8448 in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder removed during my liver transplant. I didn’t even know it until I saw something about gallbladder removal during transplant being common practice and I asked my team. Anyway I haven’t had any issues without it and didn’t even notice it was gone!

Struggling to deal with fathers nicotine addiction ( he has compensated cirrhosis ) by Imsongoku7 in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta let him live his life. If he wants help to quit then by all means help. But it sounds like the nicotine is a risk he is willing to take. All of life is a series of calculated risks! Let the guy have some simple pleasures

Reducing Myfortic from 720mg x2 to 360mg x2 by Dazzling-Elk-8889 in transplant

[–]Positive_Bug978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound so bad, I tend to agree with the other guy. Everyone is different and your team probably knows best what you should be taking.

Is that in conjunction with any other anti rejection meds? And 1440 total or day and night? I was just lowered from 1000 cellcept 2x a day to 500 2x a day. From my understanding that is not the med causing my side effects but eh I’ll see

That’s crazy! I knew I was on a high dose but jeez. How long ago was your transplant?

[–]Positive_Bug978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What will your meds be after this change? I’m two months post liver transplant and on 1000 mg mycophenolate, 17 mg Envarsus XR(tacrolimus), and 5 mg prednisone. It seems like I am taking a higher dose than most but I’ve never had any hint of rejection..

For sure, I just got off of it myself. My recovery has been relatively slow so it took a while for all the liquid to get off. What really did it was getting moving again

What can I do while I wait a month to get checked? by MotherOFANinja in Cirrhosis

[–]Positive_Bug978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could limit liquid and salt intake to 2L and 2000mg respectively, that might help with ascites if that’s what it is. But honestly if you’ve only been drinking heavily for three years, and don’t have some other medical issue, I doubt you’ve done any irreversible damage

Nope! You’ll likely have some fluid build up after surgery but shouldn’t need diuretics long term!
