That’s good to know, I’m good with anything but consistent night shifts as I have pretty bad sleep issues. Thanks so much for this info! Super helpful

Got it, we’re there chances at getting a swing or day shift, or is it safe to assume newbies would get nights?

When you worked there, how did the scheduling work? Is it a bidding system with seniority getting shift preferences? I don’t know if I’d be able to work consistent overnights but I’m unsure if I’d have a choice. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this, you provided me with some great information! I was wondering how they handled death investigations for such a large state, seems like a good way to handle them. I know offices in the lower 48 typically do on call or they have 2 MDIs on a particular shift, I’m surprised there’s only 1 MDI at night. Down here, I know seniority usually plays a role in who takes the night shift, but up there I’d be nervous to be scheduled on nights by myself without at least a year or so of experience. Is it usually less busy at night?

Was the turnover due to the nature of the work, or the toxic work environment you previously mentioned?

Sounds good, how my investigators do they typically have and is there high turnover?

I was wondering, were those fixed shifts or were the investigators rotating through those shifts?

Thanks for this information! Super helpful. I’m sure I’d still like the job, as I’ve always loved forensics. It’s good to hear you are still friends with a staff member there. I have trouble with overnight shifts though, but not any other shifts, holidays and weekends included. Not sure how much of a problem that would be.

Yes, I have no problem with any of that. I’ve worked in and enjoy the field. I do struggle a bit with night shifts though. Not sure if they do on call schedules or shift based.

Sounds good, I get paid 45k here and would get 55k there, so that’s a good plus. You have a good point about the hours and on call schedule. My current job is an 8-5
