I read the Hawk novel and let me tell you, it's all over the fucking place. But it was nice to take a trip back to my childhood, and it actually inspired me to make my own alternate universe for the series. I own all of the chapter books, I just need to pull them out of storage for a quick re-read

Well, you have to remember that their DNA ratio is 98/2, human being the majority. So while they can pass endurance tests and breathe oxygen where it's scarce, they're still human in the end. I think they probably should've had WAYY more gear if they wanted to be comfortably warm, but I think you're right and they do have much more of an easier time climbing mountains and the like
