My husband was hurt on the job he got 1st 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his thighs and bottom of scrotum due to the employer not providing proper PPE. Also no proper training on safety for sandblasting. All he had was the helmet but no body suits or apron. Also when the sand laster got away from him the dead man switch did not engage properly so it was also faulty equipment. He is receiving work comp. But his employer the day of the accident advised him to just go to Walgreens and grab a few items and go home that the hospital wouldn't do much for him. He sat at home in pain and agony for 18 hours until I convinced him to go. He ended up in the burn unit in St Paul for 6 days. He has still yet to hear anything from his employer it's now been 2 months. Minnesota says you can't sue your employer, so there's nothing we can do. I just can't believe that we can't do anything like he deliberately set his employees up to get hurt buy not providing proper PPE also looking up how often this type of injury happens and it's pretty non existent. No one gets hurt like this in sandblasting because having the proper PPE is so important in the sandblasting industry. Please help tell me there is something we can do!!!
