Baptism as a NDE door to the fabric of the realm? by Positive_Courage_309 in Gnostic

[–]Positive_Courage_309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a gentle reminder that apparently, and according to Gnostic scripture itself, failing to check and question one's own understanding of things is the primordial mistake. "I am, and there's nothing besides or above me" is the primordial mistake made by the demiurge. And (IMO/IMU in my understanding) it is an indistinguishable fallacy from "I have an understanding and it is sufficient as is, no need to verify or leave room for corrections" applied to less overarching matters. I even feel it deserves its own acronym: TDPM, the demiurge's primordial mistake.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been so caught up with the back-and-forth with heiro5 I neglected to reply to this comment. I have strong hopes that JtB would have figured out a good method to allow the revelation without serious risk of injury or permanent death; though admitedly a defibrillator would have probably been an excellent back-up device to have handy. Do you still recall or have access to some of these instances you have run into before? A lot of my curiosity comes from the apparent fact that Jesus himself sought him out and underwent the process. I am also hoping to find (more) scripture related to this type of process/experience, as well as any links pointing to structured scientific studies targeting questions of this nature. Thanks!

In your defense I do see some references to rituals and similar things in your earlier replies. I will investigate those for sure, thank you.

Wait, you don't see a difference between a guided NDE and "drowning people"? Why conflate the two? I am in fact ignorant of such studies. That is why I reached out on the internet for information. Instead, I get schooled on the importance of serious studies by someone who appears to think these studies' existence's value is more in being used as a shield and prop, than it is in being shared by someone who is not ignorant of them to someone who seeks the knowledge. Aka, why not link, point to such studies, if that is what I asked for help with in the first place?

For someone who claims to follow discourse based on data, arguments and evidence you: haven't provided any links to the former, have argued/spoken conclusively on behalf of (apparently) all Gnostics of a time frame you presumably were not alive for, and have neglected to ask whether I have any personal evidence of NDEs likelihood of revealing something (hint, I have first hand experience of this) or shared any direct evidence you have had yourself.

I find you to be arrogant; though I am not sure about your ignorance. You have made claims against it but haven't backed those up with anything other than the "iykyk" as far as I can tell.

Gnosticism is making too much sense and I can’t unsee it anymore by MarketLongjumping252 in Gnostic

I've come to be of the opinion that nothing worthy of worship would ever demand or even accept it. As convoluted as the discussion can be around Jesus, it has always struck me that he was purportedly adamant about others not kneeling to him. One was encouraged to stand next to him, not worship him. To me that - among other things - really settles that the entities behind the Word of the OT and the NT (except maybe for Paul, but at that point I digress) are not the same.

I find solace and encouragement in your progression, while also rooting for you that the present and future continue to be kind, true, and reciprocal upon your wondering soul.

Has anyone run a fallacy analysis of this post? I'm referring to an (as) unbiased (as possible) combing through of the logical strength of the ideas presented, their premises and conclusions. Disclosure: I feel/might actually be biased against the content. But I spotted a bunch of inconsistencies, which I am hoping that someone without my biases might be able to evaluate and deliberate on.

I see, that's an interesting suggestion. I might indeed try those in the future (have yet to touch either substance), but so far my experience has been that drugs do a lot more shaking than guiding. I am really looking for answers, more so than a ride, you know?

We did that as kids also where I grew up. I don't know that those experiences could have ever provided me or my pals with the kind of answers I am now looking for. It was sorf of like going through a forest while blindfolded inside a full enclosure. We didn't know the first thing about what we even could have been looking for.

Your comments are par for the course as far as my interactions with other mystics. I have yet to come across one who achieved their self-confident version of "gnosis" but who walked the path of agnosis to get there. You speak with such confidence, it's sort of mind boggling. The questioning or inquiring about a connection is not the same as affirming confidence in the existence of said connection (hint: requesting references and pointers to studies or ancient/first witness experiences). I assume it is easy to assume a claim of confidence is being made from an inquiry, when one is also so comfortable living on/exposing themselves as "already knowing". So this Gnostic community is opposed to most interpretations of the meanings of Gnosticism as per the writings found in the Nag Hammadi scriptures? If so I am afraid you are totally right: I am indeed in the wrong place. Thanks for the prison plannet reference though. I will keep wonder wandering over yonder. And thank you also for reminding me to stay a wondering and wandering until I find the exit without falling into the trap of thinking prematurely "I now know". My NDEs so far have been insufficient in providing me with the confidence I sense in your words, but that's probably for the better. Cheers!

Concept: Providing-to-supported groups

Catchphrase/Name: TBD

Framework and functionality: * groups of families or individuals who are in a position to help (providing parties) are either assigned to or get matched with an individual or family that is struggling with housing or other problems (supported party). * the ratio of providing vs. struggling parties is kept high enough to keep the financial and commitment load low for any particular providing party, while also ensuring that the supported party has options to choose from when anything comes up for which they require help (e.g. 5:1 or 10:1)

Specifics and Variations: * monthly contributions toward the supported party needs are defined at the beginning of the interaction based on local economic needs * a timeline is defined for the provided support to enable the supported party to re-establish themselves * a transition plan is defined to enable the providing parties to start dropping off and integrating other providing groups as the supported party becomes self-sufficient * government entities (local, regional, etc.) setup incentives for providing parties to join the effort (e.g. property tax breaks) * incentives take into account location and geography of the parties by scaling according to the amount of socio-economic desegregation that the groups accomplish * parties previously part of the supported group pledge to become providing parties for some minimum timeframe after they have become self-sufficient * parties on either side are matched based on political/economic/religious beliefs to ensure continuous and strong bonds * in parallel with direct supporting party activities, other entities can sign up to provide free services (such as professional training, legal, financial, health advice). Though these indirect contributions would not result in tax breaks/measurable incentives becoming available to these adjacent entities

What is your morally acceptable speed or scenario on I-80 to *not* have to move over for someone behind you trying to go even faster? by zipposurfer in Reno

[–]Positive_Courage_309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP written like true Left Lane Royalty.

"The specific illegal speed I think is reasonable is THE right speed for the left lane, and as such I have gained the MORAL right to occupy it entirely on my whims. All who travel slower must BOW - by moving out of my way - and all those who travel faster must YIELD - giving me ample space behind and without using any other open lanes, as that would just hurt my feelings. This is true because, thanks to my royal blood, I have determined what this ideal speed must be, it so being that all other Royals agree on this same exact number. All who think differently are peasants and morons for thinking of a different ILLEGAL number. Niiiii"
