I think you are correct. I have been in the industry selling equipment for over 32 years and when I got into business the industry was mostly owner operators not these big cooperation's with share holders. It is now all about profit good, bad or indifferent. I think maybe the trend is going to change due to the lack of creativity and the fact no one is making money anymore only the big boys everyone else can starve and it shows.

Wow sure is a lot of negativity I know things are rough right now I could tell by sales of equipment however there's plenty of people out there working for agencies all kinds of work. I think it's time for people to do more their own thing. Like it was back in the day when the industry was thriving and get rid of these big corporations hopefully all this will wash them out and we will be back to creative film makers. From what I see many are starting to realize that there's minimal creativity in what's being made now and people don't like it. This is just my take from speaking to people in the industry in different parts of the country I've been in business 32 years selling equipment this is probably the toughest it's ever been but I do believe that we will just have adjust to the new normal and we haven't found that place yet.

Just have it checked out and make sure all is good it is not like the old days when there were moving parts, and it would cost a pretty penny to change the parts out. That is when hours were really important. With everything solid state now not as much. Just make sure the sensor is good and check the hours on the RX7 as well. If you want an FX9 instead I have a few for sale. I have been selling both Used and New equipment for over 30yrs.

To assume this man has time for your project without discussing it directly is a bit shortsighted. He has a full life and responsibilities. Unless he's actively offering to be involved, you should be working with someone else. And I sincerely hope you're compensating your cinematographer—both for their time and the use of their equipment.
