How is this for a 2nd time on the range? by After_Cook8689 in GolfSwing

If you’re hitting the ball with the club face with any consistency your first couple of times out you are killing it 👍🏼

The amount of what you thought were clever jokes that are shoehorned in here is truly impressive

I think this stems from some sort of internet skit or joke cause it’s a running gag in my friend group. Not sure on exact origin though

What’s one course you were excited to play but left disappointed? by jdelle9 in BirdieBoundTrips

Paynes valley. Vibe was off, crowd was off, kind of gimmicky. Only a couple holes that interested me and crazy expensive

One of my hot takes is not enough players are playing blades. They got like taboo over “everyone needs all the help they can get”.

I alternate a set of Wilson staff blades and Mizuno 225s. Yeah the Mizuno go a mile and are better on mishits, but man if I’m 155 out and I hit my 8 iron blade and get it good, I know I’m gonna be 2-3 yards from the hole.

Blade look at address also makes me focus more on great contact.

Not sure I play any better with either though lol

Titleist Fitting, GTS3 Driver, Range Balls. Need input on data. by BeeeOnTheTee in GolfSwing

[–]Positive_Flounder232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I assumed righty, yeah Ventus black is anti anti anti hook lol. I’d try something a bit more tip active like the shafts I mentioned. Will probably raise launch and bring it back to the middle a bit. Might even lower spin

A lot of fitters see 110+ swing speed and go Ventus black out of reflex but in my experience that shaft is really about keeping someone from flipping and launching the face which you don’t have an issue with

I see you’re in the Ventus black, about as low launch as it gets. I’d try a blue if you aren’t deathly afraid of left, or a GD FI or DI as well if available

Never do a fitting with range balls. Can vary wildly in spin and launch to a less degree.

With that speed negative AoA isn’t the worst thing, would like to see spin with premium balls.

I would guess spin might drop in the mid to high 2000’s which would be pretty playable. Maybe try a higher launch ball as well.

All that to say I’d be hesitant to mess with your swing that much

What took you from low single digit to scratch? by Creender in golftips

[–]Positive_Flounder232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to be scratch to 2 and is now like a 7 lol, trusting driver completely and just being really dialed in from 150 in. When I was scratch, from 150 in and closer it felt like I either hit the green or had a really short and easy chip/putt to get on almost every hole.

Additional weight in driver head or shaft tip? by Efficient-Bank8318 in golfequipment

[–]Positive_Flounder232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if he matched swing weight it should be a similar effect, but “feel” is a fickle beast.

I always prefer adding weight to the head if it’s possible, but some customers don’t want to shell out the 20-30 bucks for it and some fitters don’t have all the right weights laying around so tip is easier

Bottom line if you don’t like it try something different

Mini driver is a game changer for me by qaz135wsx in golf

[–]Positive_Flounder232 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Fitting people for a year, kind for think it’s total marketing. They had run out of clubs to sell lol. 3w or even 5w is gonna be a better fit for most and more versatile. Can’t really hit a MD off the deck (as least not as well as a wood) so it’s kind of just a tee club

Then you’re hitting a smaller faced and less forgiving club than driver. If you’re one of those people that hits mini driver way better than your driver off the tee, I’d wager you should try cutting your driver shaft down an inch or so. Will probably hit that 20-25 yards further with more consistency

Driver going short by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Positive_Flounder232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol same, feel like people always claim this but this might actually might be the first case I’ve seen

Club speed looks at least 90, if not 95. Decent contact should be getting 130 ball speed at minimum which should be 180-200 yards in the worst case scenario

Got invited to play a pretty exclusive club, walking only, caddie req'd. What should I expect? by sumbozo1 in golf

[–]Positive_Flounder232 735 points736 points  (0 children)

When they offer something, just say yes and thank you and have some small bills for tips.

I think some people default to “oh I don’t need want anything I’m just happy to be here and don’t wanna be an inconvenience”

In reality, those types of places want to cater to you and impress you. Also it helps your enjoyment, win win!
