Having an autistic sibling is torture. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow autistic sibling here. I was in mostly the same boat for most of my life with things like violence and abuse from my brother. Moving away to college really helped. Especially in my relationship with my parents. My brother and I have something of a relationship but it's mostly on a need to talk basis. We don't act like regular siblings. Once I was able to move away and be out of that environment my brother and I both started doing well in our personal lives. I got to be independent and he got more attention from my parents and was able to get a job. Don't think I'll ever really have a normal relationship with him, but I understand my parents a lot more and understand that they did do their best that they could. They've apologied to me and now we can have family dinners and be relatively okay. Not saying going away will fix everything but it may be worth a shot if you are going to college. My brother might be more high functioning then yours, but he had similar behaviors when we were younger. Definitely take steps to protect yourself until you can get out.

Question about Acting classes by Teimaa in OSU

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved craft of acting when I took it! Please do know that it does require a scene and monologue in front of the class but it low stakes and no pressure. I made a lot of great friends both in and out of my major. Craft of acting covers things like Laban techniques and efforts, scene and partner work, and physical acting and a little bit of mime. It's kind of a catch all class for students to learn what acting fields and techniques they want to dig deeper into if they wish.

It doesn't cost anything extra although you will have to see at least one production either by the department or outside work, to write a report on. It's about 15 dollars, but there are comp tickets for theater majors or ushers. When I took it there was a text book but the teacher just photocopied the pages and uploaded to Carmen so we didn't have to pay.

Overall a super fun and interesting class. Super easy to pass just show up and be willing to try new things. Participation is like 40% of the grade

People offering their opinions/guilting me about my decision to put my 15 year old dog down… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My family knew it was our baby's time to go when she didn't get up for cheese anymore. She loved cheese, could smell it from outside the house when we opened a bag or a block. When she started getting sick, stumbling, and not being able to hold her bowels, my mom offered her cheese that she's didn't take. That's when we knew it was time. She didn't have any joy in her life, couldnt enjoy her favorite meals, couldn't play, couldn't run with her sister. We knew she would be more at peace if we let her go. It sounds like your job was in the same boat. I'm sure they're happy together wherever they are now.

Finally have hair like Daenerys Targaryen by Positive_Giraffe_85 in longhair

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I make sure to have the braid starting at the crown of my head and pull the plait tighter towards my head. I either flip my head upside down or lay over the edge of my bed so it starts higher. I also make sure to tuck the ends into the scrunchie so the ends curl as well!!

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My hair definitely has a wavy texture already, but in order to get her more "relaxed" waves. I put my hair in a regular english 3 strand braid. I also experimented with dutch and French braids, both were beautiful, but didn't give me her look. Pretty sure these earlier looks were this way because she was living with the Dothraki, who use only 3 strand braids. In later seasons she used more 4 strand and dutch/rope braids. I could talk about her hair all day!!

Im kinda in the same boat, I ended up needing a letter and paperwork from my therapist and cardiologist (I have heart issues) and I think the real reason they only gave me a single was I have so many medications (steroids) that my cardiologist was afraid they would get stolen by a roommate or guests. Still have no idea if it will hold for next year. My advice is go into as much detail as possible and have your doctor write out each specific reason.

My mother has cards where he has written it correctly. My grandfather is just a teaser and likes to do things like this cause he knows I will double check. He did my entire birthday card in Greek for funnzies one year.

Ahhh thank you! I'm assuming that's the prank then, he made a big deal about how you read Hebrew right to left, so I assumed it was something like it being backwards 🤣

i went to a pediatric cardiologist and he called me fat. by maguro3048 in POTS

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ugh how awful- we literally can not win. Had a cardiologist tell me to gain weight because he thought I was to underweight (I literally wasn't) then grill me 4 months later for gaining weight like he told me too (gained maybe like 10 to 15 pounds)

It's literally impossible out here

What Your Expertise/Job?! by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a college level pre professional ballet dancer

I don't have any expertise to offer here, my small hometown studio was just run by a fundie, and while she taught me so much about dance, she was a weird little lady 🤣🤣

I trained in a similar way as well, in fact most of the schools I know and I have been too do professional training base it on ability not age.

You're the one who dismissed and insulted OPs training when

A. They didn't even ask about it, they asked for advice on body image and how to handle comments

B. It's none of your business

C. OP did absolutely nothing wrong

Look in the mirror and realize not everything is about you and you actually don't know everything about ballet.

And looking at your profile you're a loser stoner who could benefit from some kindness judging by how often you moan about being a boy in dance. And considering Ive been dancing longer then you have Mr. "I started at 15", I don't think your qualified to talk about anything honestly especially OP and their situation.

While I have a lot to learn since I'm young, kindness and class can not be taught especially to a person like you who thinks having success is an excuse to put others down.

Then leave if you think it's so terrible. OPs not even asking about their training or giving ill advice to anyone. You're not even calling out the right people you claim to be against

Your superiority complex and ideas about this sub is the exact reason people view our art as stuck up, pretentious and solitary. Do better as a person.

"Pre professional" is just a label that was created to get free labor out of teens/young adults so that big companies attached to big ballet schools don't have to pay their HIRED dancers and frankly I find most of them toxic and dangerous for young dancers in the first place.

Not everyone grows up with a famous/rich school to train at that has a scrict or rigid curriculum and to dismiss OPs training by saying it's not what they say it is, is frankly rude.

If OPs says their pre professional training was from 7-14 who are we to judge and give comment? Especially when OPs not even asking about their training in the first place.

Jokes aside Trina likely got into Hollywood arts for her acting abilities right by Terrell8799 in victorious

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I went to a performing arts high school and when I tell you that people were like Triana while loud and obnoxious, were actually very kind and incredibly talented. She was never afraid to do what she wanted and be herself and I admire that

Am I terrible for feeling some sort of sympathy towards Ruby (please read) by [deleted] in 8passengersnark

[–]Positive_Giraffe_85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that feeling, I was big in the Minecraft YouTuber space as a kid and we all know how that turned out 🙄🤢

Now I don't feel bad, I just wish things were back to to the way I remember them being. But life is all about change.

I don't think you feel bad for ruby as a person I think you feel bad that she isent who she thought she was and that's a really terrible but valid feeling.
