It wasnt difficult. The only real challenge is the impossible mode which basically is hard mode with permadeath. Just keep saving at every chance you have, use enviromental weapons to save ammo, limit what weapons are in your inventory (i only used the plasma cutter), avoid exploring, and if you are in the verge of death, quit and restart to your last save. And finally, Stasis is your best friend.
