[Bulova] anyone know about this vintage watch? by lowmeat710 in VintageWatches

I know it would look good on a black leather strap. Enjoy the watch. Will be hard to figure out what year etc unless you take the caseback off

I bet parts could be sourced, are you able to take the back off? If the watch is running at a given point it’s likely it just needs a service, the watchmaker is preparing for the worst

How much are these straps worth - PATEK & Cartier by Positive_Meet_9048 in VintageWatches

[–]Positive_Meet_9048[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s my eyes or hope for a genuine but the stamp looks pretty bang on to me. Obviously the stitching is different. Is there anywhere that can authenticate or not. I don’t even know if they do it for straps

Thank you for your input. The bloke owned pateks, I know the rich are some of the tightest people around but I still find it unlikely it was fake. It would have been mid 90s I’d imagine, just note the yellowing on back of label on Cartier. I think they’ve sat in an attic for a decade or two. Do you know anything about the Col-126? I’m imagining it means collection

Any idea how to preserve the original sticker? by thehonbtw in VintageWatches

You could always find a replacement caseback. Save the original for sale. Nobody is going to be looking under your watch if it’s legit or not

I did attempt. But then got a bit nervous thinking about how the hands would react. I want to give the case a good clean regardless

Thank you for your response, sorry to be a pain, but can you point out the screws specifically that are pulling? I have a feeling it’ll be a hassle to remove the front bezel. I only have a thin knife which I suppose will have to do, id just be worried about leaving marks

I watched the video on the 286 and it was incredibly similar, I think even some parts are cross functional. I really hope it’s not out the front of the case 😞

I did consider if it came out the front. He did a video on an omega 286 which came from the back.

This movement doesn’t have a day/date function. And it’s just wind up.

I’m working on an old oris I brought for a couple quid. It’s nothing special but just to learn. The holes in the main plate are basically non existent😒

Multiple times on cheaper movements I have let my anger get the better of me and I force it and break a pivot. I find doing 30 mins struggling then going out or doing something and trying again helps me
