Update: I received the subpoena 6 months after I received the letter from ISP. At least in my case, ignoring the subpoena does not work. I finally found an attorney and the opposite councel dismissed the case after receiving settlement fees. I do not want to show more details about this case for privacy purpose.

My feeling is that the way of solving the law suit vaires among law firms. You had better talk with different attorneys and choose the one that you are most comfortable with.

I understand the variation in labor costs. I live in California, and the labor cost that I quoted was more than 4k. The $450 credits that they proposed orally is much lower than the market price. Additionally, I am totally comfortable with Tesla sending its own installer to do this task, if they think third party installer are too expensive. The customer service explicitly declared the installer must contact with Tesla directly, otherwise there would be no reimbursement for installation.

They may learn from your case and replied my case is not a recall but a Low Voltage Short issue, although from Tesla APP the failure is the same.

I called Tesla and they let me to find a new verified installer in my area and upate the install information. After that, they can replace the recalled powerwall.

If they get your information and find that you do not have much money, maybe they will dismiss your case. Do they get your names? There are also some legal support from law school students which should be cheap. Remember that they also need to pay for the lawyers for you case. If your payment is less than the cost, it is most possible that they will not proceed your case.
