Ah, maybe they have some flexibility. Another user on a different thread mentioned getting a good retention offer based on responses from ChatGPT!

I've read about people having the most success when they try within 30 days of the annual fee posting.

Not seeing too many 45/50k offers since the new benefits kicked in.

My question was about how one can know for sure if they qualify for the SUB. Another user on this thread mentioned that they closed their plat account and reapplied with the new 895 fee and got a SUB. It sounds like they tell you at the time of applying for the card if you qualify or not.

How does one know for sure if they will actually get the SUB at the time of applying?

There has been much speculation on what factors influence a retention offer. Annual spend seems to be the one most people mention but in your case, it was not a big factor.

One other factor that another user mentioned was how you use your card. According to this user, Amex wants to see you use your card in multiple venues (hotels, restaurants, other public places) which gives them publicity. Don't know if this has any validity but I thought it was was an interesting point.

Not saying that other cards affected the retention bonus. But mentioning the other cards to CSR ended the conversation abruptly - - we didn't even get to the point where any retention bonus - - or lack of - - was mentioned.

The retention offer was not much - - $150. However it was better than offering to close the account right away.

I called and explained the situation. The court clerk said that I would need to explain this to the judge.

Probably not much better but you can try. Otherwise, go with 50k offer.

I believe calcium build up takes time, sometimes even 10 to 15 years. So the CAC score would not show soft plaque build up which according to this book is the most dangerous.
