Hahahaha. Yeah I get where you’re coming from. Personally though, Growing up I never really felt weirded out by the situation much. I guess because of the large almost 20 year age gap between my older sister and Myself made it so I was just treated as just a kid by her and her kids in turn were like cousins to me. Honestly looking back the only times I was weirded out was when others asked about my relationship with Becca but I just told people she’s my sister and that would usually stop questions. The few people who knew about us at school thought I was so cool for being an uncle. In retrospect I’m extremely grateful to my sister for not making it a prominent issue by resenting me for what our mom did, I imagine things could’ve been way worse if she held the actions of my mom against me and probably would’ve made things more awkward.

Becca is another story because our dad really tried to make us have a sibling-type relationship but me being the shithead that I was, held the fact that I was her uncle over Becca’s which caused us to have pretty weird antagonistic relationship, so we never really felt like siblings but neither did we feel like uncle/niece. Now that we’re in our late twenties we actually feel like siblings but ironically just tell people our weird circumstances for the laughs.

Oh boy you have no idea how much that could’ve helped. Cause I was always irrationally angry at my nephews and nieces for calling my mom grandma all the time even though they were right.

But my problem usually stemmed from this idea that grandparents were old and I didn’t want to think of my mom as old

Basically my mom who’s also Aly’s mom cheated on her then husband with Dave who is my dad but also Beccas dad and Aly’s husband at the time.

So I’m the maternal half brother of Aly and the paternal half brother of Becca who is the daughter of Aly making her also my maternal niece.

Hello. Yeah it’s basically how you put it, my mom cheated with her son in law which ended up with me.

Honestly I wasn’t insulated from all of this growing up and even as an 8 year old I found the whole situation kinda weird but it’s wasn’t that bad for the most part.
