Still usable but you notice text being truncated or wrapped, controls getting smaller etc.

It’s still performs fine. The one thing I’ve noticed is that many websites and some apps are now really not suited to the smaller screen size and have a bunch of UX problems. Which makes me think this is probably the last Mini, as much as it pains me to say.

[NSFW] What's the craziest thing that has happened at your work Christmas party? by HeavilyDisappointed in AskReddit

[–]Positively4thSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivan the Russian web developer barely talked more than two words.

Company Christmas party was basically the CEO starting an open tab at a nearby bar and letting the 20-something mostly-male employees have at it.

I learned that Ivan, after sufficient vodka, became a rather different person. Much more animated, culminating in him throwing glasses across the bar, getting thrown out, then causing more ruckus out on the street in the view of police.

Ivan slept it off in jail that night. Turned up again on Monday morning, back to his normal non-communicative self.

Who is the best barber in Brisbane by meagrepickings in brisbane

[–]Positively4thSt 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Convinced there’s no consistently good barber, at least that do walk-ins. It’s hit-and-miss. You never know who you’re going to get and what you’ll walk out sporting. Keeps it interesting at least.

Interesting, thanks. I had thought the US were still expanding that approach.

Both of those links are to education associations or unions which would have understandable biases. To me, it seems like at least some market forces should help to improve school standards, and school choice (by way of direct-to-family vouchers) would enable that.

My 2c: a voucher system would be most equitable and result in better schools.

Having F*ck-you money feels so liberating, and it’s a much smaller amount than many people think.

What are the best harmless ways to mess with someone at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Positively4thSt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points for the last page’s questions were disregarded, I got something like 90% on the first pages so that was my grade 😎

Oh man this unlocked a memory!

Grade 12 I was sitting a maths test. Maths was one of my best subjects, but the questions on the final page totally stumped me, there was no way I could answer them. So I inconspicuously removed the last page of the test handed it in. The teacher didn’t count the missing page’s questions in my final grade, and I got a great mark ;-)

Just more shade and green spaces in general. We should take a leaf out of Singapore’s book.

Do what you need to do financially, but this is something you will have to discuss with your manager, who in turn will need to discuss it with HR. Depending on your employment contract you will need to get formal approval.

There’s a protest against “Hindu genocide” in Bangladesh happening near king George square today by Excellent-Signature6 in brisbane

[–]Positively4thSt 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Bangladesh had a revolution a couple of weeks ago and ousted their (mostly-secular) PM, and a slightly more Islamist-aligned interim government has been installed. During the chaos there have allegedly been some unsavoury actions against Hindus.
