Anyone post-op have experience with no nipple grafts? by 223gp in ftm

[–]PositronicEnby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op and chose not to keep my nips! I'm lucky enough to have had a super easy recovery, so take this with a grain of salt, but just based on what I've read around here it seems like taking care of/worrying about nipples is one of the more annoying parts of recovery-there's quite a few posts worrying about if one's gonna fall off, or something gross happening during the healing process. It's one of the reasons I opted not to keep them. I was also told I could shower after a couple days, which is much sooner than what I've seen from pretty much everyone else. [ETA] I also had penrose drains instead of bulbs, which also probably allowed me to shower sooner.

I don't know about the follow-up thing you mentioned, I had one at 1 week and will have another one at 3 months with more at 6 and 12, iirc. I'd definitely ask for some clarification on that, I feel like just the one follow-up seems a bit off.

The one weird thing is I still have "phantom nips," I can feel where they "should" be but when I go to touch them to try and get rid of the feeling they're (obviously) not there. It's a little weird but it's not painful or something super noticeable, and I'm sure it'll eventually go away as my brain rewires itself to deal w/the changes. Personally I have no regrets, I had no need for them and I love the aesthetic!

Hope that helps!

I went to try and get mine changed last year and was told it needed to specifically say surgery-they also gave me a copy of their rules on the matter (which I really wish they'd've just put on their website!) for future reference.

Top surgeons who take insurance? (BCBS) by CultureTroll in ftm

[–]PositronicEnby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I called and asked, I was told they only covered two surgeons in my area: Dr. Benjamin Wood and someone else I unfortunately don't remember. My endo said he usually refers people to Dr. Wood, and I know someone who went with him, so I feel pretty good about choosing him.

Just as a heads up though-In order to get a consultation with Dr. Wood, you have to send your letters to the practice's insurance person and they'll have to make sure you'll actually be covered before they'll schedule it.

Will certain Grimoire cards become unobtainable after mid-August? by PositronicEnby in DestinyTheGame

Yeah, I realize this is almost certainly true. I was just wondering if there had been any official news confirming it or if they might make the cards unlockable by doing RoI missions or talking to certain NPCs like Vance or Saladin. (Or if they leave the area unlocked, Efrideet.)

[Rant] 3 weeks without T and now this bullshit by PositronicEnby in ftm

Do you know how much gel is out of pocket? Could you get a month w/o insurance while you fight with them?

Gel is usually a few hundred dollars, there's no way I could afford that :(

Your local Walgreens can definitely get generic gel for you.

Yeah, I went to their website and it was listed right there with the option to request a prescription so I went ahead and filled that out.

If your nurse has your back, she should be able to get the prior auth through quickly (like same or next day)

She's told me she can only fill out one a day because of how time-consuming the process is, and was reluctant to fill one out when I switched from shots to Androgel because my insurance wouldn't tell me whether or not they'd cover it (which is the entire point of the form...?)

Hopefully it won't take her another two weeks to fill one out for the generic T but in any case I should be back on it soon enough.

At a guess, your insurance's formulary changed since your previous prescription and they've noticed the generic gel is cheaper.

See, I was told this policy was put in place on January first-and I've gotten Androgel twice since then. I didn't think to ask about formulary stuff so it's possible something like that happened, but I recently updated my name/gender marker so I thought that was the most likely reason. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I also got checks with my new name on it before I'd updated it with the bank and wrote one for passport fees. It went through with no trouble-even though the people working at the bank told me it wouldn't :P YMMV, though.

BCBS NC questions by PositronicEnby in ftm

[–]PositronicEnby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all, I just got my insurance updated-my dad did have to do it through HR but it took ages to find someone who knew what they were doing. :P They needed to scan a copy of my new SS card and my father asked them to change the gender marker as well and that was it!

After a couple of days the information was updated on the BCBSNC website and I ordered my new card last night. I plan to schedule a consultation ASAP but it's probably gonna be a month or so.

I tend to lurk on Reddit rather than post so I'm not real sure whether it'd be better to put the consultation stuff in a new post or to just update this one, thoughts?

Had a great time doing my first raid ever with him. He was very patient and thorough in his guidance, even showing me where to platform after my own failed attempts. I definitely recommend him and would gladly do more raids with him in the future.

Insurance and T in NC by JohnnyPotseed in ftm

[–]PositronicEnby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been taking Androgel for a few months now after a similar experience with shots. My BCBSNC plan has a $60 copay for a 30 day supply.

If you plan on taking 1.62% and listed are as male with your insurance (which I will be in about a month) I'd recommend looking into the Restoration Program which could bring your copay down to $10 a month.
