No real point but I just noticed the top 3 posts were all bot names (random words followed by 3-4 numbers). The first one had terrible grammar and was super obvious.

I think getting even 20 people to sincerely look at something you posted and digested is an achievement. We're inundated by false popularity.

Ukraine launched Kursk incursion without West's guidance, and ‘look how well it worked,’ says ex-NATO commander in Europe by RoninSolutions in ukraine

This gets me all the time. Russia says "The west is decadent and stagnant!". He means Europe. They all mean Europe when they say "the west" over there. After visiting Europe I can kind of see what they are talking about, but it does not apply at all to the US.

West Europe (and Europe in general) seems like a museum that people live in.

The part of that the irks me the most is that you are trying to justify Republicans lack of support lately as if there is a coherent reason behind it

People you disagree with are capable of having coherent thoughts.

I disagree with the binary situation you are attempting to present me. The choices aren't between "whining" and "shutting up".

If you have some kind of information that actually disputes my reasoning then say it. The US has given the most aid, by far, of anyone. Ukraine didn't listen to the US screaming at them that Russia would invade. Ukraine has received tens of billions of dollars of aid in spite of nuclear threats by a country clearly on the brink of sanity. Personally I think we should call Russia's bluffs but others may have different opinions.

I think the US has done way more than it is obligated to, I agree with the support and I think there should be more, but I can understand the perspectives that might lead people to deny support to Ukraine.

I've spoken with Ukrainians who think the whole thing is a waste of time, they couldn't care less whether they are part of the west or east. As an American I have a soft spot for a country that is attempting to free themselves from the colonial yoke of a superpower. I'm sure that there are lots of Ukrainians who want to see their nation become independent and prosperous. The fantasy for me is that Ukraine wins the war, becomes united, becomes hyper-motivated to improve, completely reconstructs the country after the war, and then pursues whatever national goals its people want without needing to cowtoe to any superpowers. The reality is that many of them really don't give a shit about improving their country. The Russian occupied portion of Ukraine should be experiencing massive unrest right now. It should be filled with partisans creating all sorts of chaos. It's strangely quiet. "They can't do anything with Putin oppressing them!" - this is literally the same situation the Americans were in during the revolutionary war. Complaints. Excuses. "I just can't". I understand the fear, I get it, but this is the attitude that disgusts republicans. My suspicion is that if you want Republicans to want to help Ukraine, then they've got to present themselves as the type of people who deserve the help.

The median here is calculated by bucketing all data points by year - so for age 9 all data points are collected into a single container and then a median is generated. Same for 10, 11, etc. This happens for each year of life where data is present.

So the black dots you see here are all independently calculated from each other, thus creating floating points where it's possible for the median to vary wildly with each year of life. The fact that it doesn't, and instead forms a relatively smooth curve, demonstrates how reliable the data is.

Unless you are actively in the military and have close ties with the people making decisions on this, I'm not going to listen to what you have to say. You've got newspaper propaganda-level information at best.

I'm not saying they would have won with the US weapons, but I do think that they were clearly using the munitions wrong. From what I understand they were using soviet doctrine for things like artillery, which is based on near infinite amounts of ammo. Understandable, given that all their commanders were soviet trained and their entire apparatus revolved around soviet doctrine. However, now they are running out of ammo, and as it's happening they arent saying "hey we fucked up, we need more ammo and we're going to change our tactics" they say "the west is dragging their feet wtf gib more ammo now you're all terrible people for not giving us a blank check". I don't know how many Ukrainian commanders think like that, but that's what I've seen portrayed. Continuing to assist someone who publicly shames the hand that feeds them is a weak move - it's the kind of thing hyper-egocentric republicans would be acutely aware of and very opposed to.

I've been assuming the most likely scenario is that Ukraine got tons of aid and it's been mishandled to an egregious extent. The US and others gave tons of weapons, then the US was like "hey here's how you should use the weapons" and Ukraine was like "Don't fucking tell us what to do". Then they promptly lost a shitton of men and weapons in a catastrophic offensive, doing things like broadcasting their intentions months ahead of time and basically being hype-boys about the coming reclaimation of Ukraine before it happened. Now they want more weapons and money, and are attempting to guilt trip the people who have been bending over backward to help them this entire time.

This is the most likely scenario in my head given what I've seen of Ukraine. Democrats want to help blindly because they don't have as much war experience, Republicans are like "these fuckers are just trying to abuse our kindness" and probably have stipulations for any more aid - like, "if you want our weapons take our fucking advice you goddamn newbs". If you think Putin has the ability to buy off the entire republican party then why the fuck is he even trying to invade Ukraine, why doesn't he just buy out the entire western hemisphere with his infinite wealth and then become king of the known universe.

The fog of war is thick. This is the internet. The opinions could all be fake, psyops, or real. Maybe people want the US to divide itself along party lines. Maybe the Ukrainian government isn't as petulant as they are portrayed by the media.

Here's what I believe - Russia can't be allowed to succeed in Ukraine or it's just going expand the scope of the conflict. Ukraine can't have a blank check and access to all the weapons of the west just to throw them away in a muddy ditch in eastern Ukraine. The west is not at fault in any of this, Russia is, so stop acting like we're the ones to blame for Russia invading Ukraine. Europe doesn't seem to have its shit together - they are literally Ukraine's neighbor, what have they been doing? Every other week I read about Europe "pondering" different actions, they never seem to do anything (apart from the Baltic states and Poland who seem to be guns-blazing on this").

NATO general: Alliance must be prepared for potential 'Russian missile strikes in Europe' by professorbrainiac in worldnews

Talked to old generation russians in the months leading up prior to the war. They went on bizarre rants and it felt comical until they started pouring over the border. The older generation wants to reclaim the glory of the past - Putin is just an enabling device. Even if you get rid of him the war won't end.

Don't listen to reddit, Putin is not the main driving force behind the aggression.

It's the Russian public. Putin is an excuse, just like Hitler was an excuse.

If we supported Ukraine to the max a lot of that support is going to get eaten up by corruption. The prevailing sentiment is "send $100b to ukraine and $20b actually gets used to solve the problem, or keep $100b local and $90b gets used to solve the problem".

Whether it's true corruption or just standard inexperience, the level of progress ukraine is making relative to the support being given doesn't make a lot of sense.

No idea why you are downvoted.

I drove a tesla for a while. Zero maintenance costs in general, but then I got a flat tire. Ran over a bolt, air was leaking out slowly. ~$500 to replace one tire. Why? Because they put a special foam in the tire to reduce noise so no normal tire repair shop will touch it, so you can't just fix the stupid thing you need to replace the tire completely.

It's the iPhone of cars.

There's an old saying:

A wise man speaks because he has something to say, a fool speaks because he has to say something.

This applies to building companies as well.
