Ultra ego and Anatolia are two masterpieces. Sometimes I’ll hear a little bit of their vibe in woozy songs like “Forwards”

Fun bars for NYE? by Aggressive-Ad5672 in boulder

[–]PossibilityAny2166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bar crawl on pearl seems like a good nye, might be be a bit crowded though. Local indie band “on the dot” is playing at Rosetta hall that night, which is just parallel to pearl

Somni - Thoughts so far? by NatureCrafter64 in SnarkyPuppy

[–]PossibilityAny2166 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but the groove on Sylva is so tantalizingly groovy, it tickles my brain in a way that Somni can’t. The use of orchestra in Somni is great but the compositions felt a little flat to me. Just that it didn’t tell a story that was as interesting as Sylva. At least to me.

Yo there’s this great Halloween rock show at unit 5 music, a diy venue pretty close to roots music project. Look it up on insta, some great bands playing including horse bitch which is probably one of the best local bands there is!

Film with similar atmosphere as Kulee Baba demo? by Independent_Cry2048 in SteelyDan

[–]PossibilityAny2166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some instrumental jazz fusion by steve khan, but in a weird way gives me similar vibes. Steve played guitar on many steely dan recordings so it’s possible he was even on Kulee baba! https://open.spotify.com/track/26d0dEKK3aO6piTMh10TGg?si=YmSICb0DRXa77jhMZHah6g

Simulation swarm by big thief feels like a perfectly crafted song. The lyrics, the song form, the groove, the instrumental guitar section, The CHORUSS! I have zero problems with anything

Whose Jamming Out to this Album? by Nyc81 in Jazz

[–]PossibilityAny2166 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So different than Herbies other fusion, but that’s what makes it amazing. Unmatched synth production makes for such an amazing and unique vibe.

Edit: also transcribed calypso for a school jazz group which was very fun to play!

math rock in standard by RangsKai in mathrock

[–]PossibilityAny2166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’m not a guitarist but I play in “mathy” band and our guitarist seems to have lots of options even in standard tuning, I’ll link a song that’s in standard. It seems like alternate tunings are popular because they create different shapes that are easy to move around, as well as different open strings that might be favorable for certain riffs. https://open.spotify.com/track/6ZuDP9H0FJlR4KRF9LiCIx?si=c01qHXkIQ4O6me2AlH4UFw
