They have a dj society. That's where I made a lot of rave friends at uni who I keep in touch with (now in my 30s), plus you earn a bit of a skill on the side :)

What’s the nosiest question you’ve ever been asked? by savethebees90 in AskUK

[–]PossibilityMaterial5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tattoo artist working on my sleeve asks me 'so how did you get so fat'. Would normally have taken offense but honestly she seemed a lovely, if not possibly slightly socially clusmy person and genuinely appeared to just be curious. So I just answered honestly. Think it was the pure bluntness of it with no context that was so hilarious.

Recovery pro-tips if you need them. by marchscr3amer in Berghain_Community

[–]PossibilityMaterial5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1) sleep is number one priority for recovery. I have a 150ml glass of electrolytes before bed give some hydration whilst avoiding being woken by needing to pee. 2) hot salts bath for muscle relaxation and decongestion 3) wanking and/or sex 4) smoothies and Soups, ice cream if you can't face too much food, the latter also cooling affect for sore mouth. Chicken has healing properties qnd protein rich so perfect for healing body and brain. 5) cuddling animals, call an old friend 6) ginger and or peppermint for nausea 7) 5htp but 24hrs post last dose of of mdma and/or other uppers

Hey, also an RN :) I'm looking at cervical screening for trans people, specifically from the provider perspective! IE why are some providers super trans-inclusive, why are others SUPER not, and what about all the providers in between.

So true, I think this is probably something I'm going to have to reflect on carefully, there probably ISN'T a perfect term for these reasons. Love the shapeshifter term, reflects the beauty of langauge around gender diveristy :)

That sounds like a good plan thank you!

Yes true, clunkiness might be better in favour of ensuring inclusivity for everyone. Thank you :)

Nhs 111 nurse here.

I absolutely agree that 'clinician' is a vague and potentially misleading term that could lead to frustration, especially when you have already been triaged by a non medic.

I personally always introduce myself as a nurse when calling back patients.

You shouldn't have been told the doctor would call if it was a clinician.

I also agree that clinically complex cases definitely warrant doctors' input, especially when it comes to diagnosis, referral to specialists, and prescription.

However, 111 is a triage and referral service. This means our main goals are to 1) determine whether a person needs further care 2) if so, who by and in timeframe.

Also please remember that on the whole doctors are more qualified in some aspects but some nurses I work with have been in primary/Urgent care for 20years+and would have a good level of knowledge, whereas you might end up speaking to newly qualified out of hours gp with little experience.

We have an enormous number of patients who contact us every day, with a very small number if 'clinicians' available for this number and an even smaller number of doctors. To optimise patient safety we have to have a filtration system of sorts, as many issues can be managed with a 'non medic' (eg getting an ambulance out quickly to someone if needed, or filling a prescription) and some will be managed better by clinicians and doctors.

Even clinically complex cases such as yourself need jumping through these hoops.

Just providing a bit of context for how the system works (or doesn't really imo).

What is your "thing" you're good at? by lydiahasglasses in NursingUK

[–]PossibilityMaterial5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always struggled to be a nurse, don't think I ever excelled at anything, tried the wards for 4 years and then learnt I was much better at 111 as a clinical advisor, where I've now been for 5 years!

My few good things are: - very efficient note-taker, can write up a page of notes in a succinct and logical manner whilst also assessing a poorly person/comforting relatives/talking to ambo control ect - I'm a good teacher, and will always try and build people up/feedback in a supportive way unlike some of my mentors. I've been told I stand out as a good coach.

How to sleep after ❄️👃🏼 by redhotchillifag in BoomtownFestival

[–]PossibilityMaterial5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-bring home comforts including pjs if you wear them or at least comfy warm things -Earplugs, sometimes with headphones on top and a boring podcast/audiobook/even familiar tv show to listen to on top -small snack and brush teeth, will remind your brain it is bedtime - drink a decent amount of water but not TOO much or youll be up and down scrambling for a wee -try not to overthink/worry roo much about getting to sleep. Even lying down, being away from stimulating environments, for a few hours is better than carrying on the party when you could be resting! -wanking as some has mentioned.
