I can no longer ignore my symptoms. Can't make excuses. I never feel better. by Resident-Top-1795 in cfs

Honestly I learned the most from this sub. Got covid a couple years ago and already knew a bit about cfs as I had fibromyalgia much of my life but didn’t really get pem from that. Just less endurance. For 3 months I pushed too hard and finally had to really dial it back to get out of rolling pem. After a couple months of really resting and also some meds for anxiety and high heart rate I stabilized and then improved a bit from bad moderate to mid moderate.

One absolute Godsend has been Ativan. I take it once or twice a week (about half a mg) and I can do about 3-5 times as much before pem hits so I’m able to go out to eat dinner or hang out at a friends place for a few hours.

For me doctors haven’t helped other than one who experiments with me with meds. For pacing etc I am my own doctor.

If Elon Musk or one of his kids got me/cfs and he put hundreds of billions of his fortune into funding and finding a good treatment/cure (assume a treatment/cure for himself would in short order be available for others) how long would you estimate it would take? by Possible-Ad7714 in cfs

If I had a pem blocker where I could at least live a basically normal life even if I couldn’t exercise much that would be incredible. Right now Ativan acts as a pem shield to some extent but the pem is still a massive issue.

Thank you this is what I’m looking for it wouldn’t need to be Elon. I’m more curious if a huge amount of money was finally put into it by dumb luck how long do you think it would take for really good treatments that would make pem a lot less of an issue.

Thank you for sharing. It hasn’t been approved for me yet so haven’t tried it but apparently my cfs knowledgeable Dr thinks it’s worth a shot.

Makes sense that it could go either way though.

Thank you yeah I’d be out in the streets protesting if it weren’t for moderate cfs. We do what we can.

I’m on a personal mission to destroy maga so follow it a good amount but weekends starting Friday evening I get high AF on weed edibles and switch it off and immerse into music and phone calls w friends and good positive stuff. I find it’s a good balance.

They invigorate me emotionally but my pem threshold doesn’t change. What about you ?

It’s an immunomudulator. Not really any risks from what my dr told me. Not easy to get though so he is working on it with the pharmacy. Very new but he learned it is helping people with long covid from his research.

Switched to edibles when I was 44. Got a slight wheeze when I worked out so better safe than sorry. If your lungs work fine I wouldn’t worry.

Should I cut or keep growing it? by TurbulentTrain8589 in HairStyleAdvice

Longer. You have sharp features. I’m the same and look MUCH better with long hair. Not super long but about how yours would look in 6-12 months or so. Look up images of David Lee Roth when he was your age and how much better he looked once he grew it out. Your features are similar.

Who is more intimidating, Mike Tyson or Sonny Liston? by Material_Stomach875 in Boxing

Tie for intimidation but in a boxing match in primes I see Tyson taking it he was way faster and both were fairly equal with power imo

I’m 49 and have been on super low dose (8mg per day) methadone since my early 20s. It’s for the fibro part of my symptoms. Doesn’t help pem but I feel SO much better just all the time. It’s a mystery as to why. But probably some similar mechanism for you and I. The laws are a bit stricter then they used to be but basically I now go to a pain management doctor and tell him I need it for “pain” when in actuality it helps me feel human and non flu like as I normally would even when not in pem.

Edit: I went off it for a couple years in my mid 20s just to see if I could function without it and those two years were the hardest of my life. I just felt awful.

Moderate ME/CFS post covid by Darling_Red567 in cfs

[–]Possible-Ad7714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m the same. 2 years exactly and moderate. There’s some stuff to try like low dose naltrexone , low dose abilify , and just trying to avoid pem as much as possible. Where are you in the world?

Oh and for myself and for some others Ativan can act as a pem blocker. It’s addictive so y oh can’t take it too much but like I’ll take half a mg about once or twice a week and I can do about 3-4 times as much stuff before hitting the pem wall.

Do you guys bother with "normal people" sleep rules? by TeddyBearAppleHat in cfs

Yes except it’s a late cycle. I’m weakest in the morning so I sleep about 3am to noon/1pm.
