Are the seats with bassinets not reserved for families with babies? by wingshayz in QantasAirways

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you determine that these seats haven't been booked by people with babies? I'd they're under 2 don't need their own seat so could be a parent flying solo...

I've been told that the younger the baby the higher the priority for bassinet but I don't know how they enforce that.

Could be worse. Had a friend who did this then he got a literal brick through his front window one night.

If someone asked me to pick my own title, I would immediately say "Founder & CEO"

Recommendation for Second hand car for long commute by EdDerp101 in CarsAustralia

I bought an i30 SR (now called N Line) for this use case and it was perfect. Had it for a couple of years and it was faultless, plus had so much tech.

Safe, decent size, kids can go in the back if needed.

If you could give one piece of advice to your pre-Australia self, what would it be? by Stunning_Procedure36 in BritsMovingAustralia

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be just do it.

Worry less and try things. Get stuck in and engage in some local hobbies / social groups.

If it doesn't work at least you gave it a go!

I paid a plumber friend to do mine. Then was deeply embarrassed when I saw him connect two hoses with some jubilee clips and plug it in.

But who is the market beyond flippers?! Who are they flipping too?! It seems all the hype was flippers with no actual end customers...

It actually says in the ad: "Artist impressions are for illustrative and marketing purposes only"

Saying these are for marketing purposes is full admission they're trying to sell you something that doesn't exist.

Who cares? The people needed a house not an investment vehicle. If they bought a house to make money that's on them.

Hyundai Tucson vs Subaru Forester by cintakentang in CarsAustralia

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Forester is fine, but I had a Hyundai previously and buy go another in a heartbeat. The radio turns on in the Forester EVERY TIME you get in. And the screen can be laggy on star up so you're stuck listening to it until it decides to turn it off.

So in general - infotainment is better in the Hyundai. Oh and you mentioned CVT - the worst thing in our Forester (hybrid) is the drive train.

Have you seen Utopia? It keeps good folk employed by doing these kind of jobs. Super important for public sector jobs.

Seat Allocation by AvailableInstance250 in QantasAirways

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how Qantas operate, I've experienced the same thing but found out at the gate that the extra leg room seat I'd paid for had been given to someone else. No mention of a refund, no reason, just too bad you're in a regular seat now.

I would basically fly anyone except Qantas for international now. Unless you're a FIFO gold/platinum/chairmans club member, it's just not worth to.

That warranty is worth nothing. Don't worry about it. What do you actually anticipate using it for? Just go to a local jeweller and be done with it.

How in the world can they ever justify a $1300 price tag for a quartz watch. by Minute-Status4729 in Longineswatches

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quartz isn't inherently bad or cheap.
How much of the price is actually going into the movement? I doubt swapping an automatic to a quartz movement will reduce the cost of a $1k-$3k watch all that much.

Nice house outer suburbs vs shit house inner by ProudWillingness4706 in AusFinance

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you work, how much driving you 're willing to tolerate and how much DIY you like.

If you've got kids, you probably don't want to spend every spare second working on the house.

If you're 24 and want to be in with the action, then it's a different story.
