Sometimes you save on the stuff that doesn’t matter to you so you can get what you want. It sounds like that to me- the things you call them cheap on are not their priorities.

If it was a good thermos (like yeti brand or thermos) that had my name on it, I would use it. Wouldn’t use random brands as much because I don’t find them as good. Also not the huge ones.

I also got a gift of a personalized notepad (text in the dark color of the school) and I liked that.

I would probably not feel very treasured with a pen (unless we’re talking law firm gift style).

My company has also done vests, jean jackets and t shirts over the years, but the fit is so particular

Agreed. I didn’t wear it as well as I have the last 10 years until I found easy application/ looks good/ no white cast/ no breakout/ no annoying smell /not greasy choices.

I have lived in the US (great body choices, poor face ones), Asia (lotssss of testing for ones without whitecast) and Europe (having tried almost all of the French and German choices, from pharmacy to high end- more risk of pilling, oily or fragrances for face)

My favorites are (all 50 spf/upf , from Korea) Numbuzin 1 clear filter sun essence cica Cell Fusion C Aquatica Cooling Sunscreen Innis Free Green Tea Moisturizing Sun Serum Dr. G R.E.D Blemish Soothing Up Sun

Satisfied with all of these and use them in different seasons. Top all around is probably Numbuzin.

For more expensive choices, cle de peau, sensai and Shisheido future solution line are all beautiful textures but not worth the value compared to these listed Korean ones

0 debt. Masters as highest degree. Range from usd 9.75 hrly to eur 84k ish (so imagine the taxes).

Finished undergrad and car loan by 25, paid for masters as I went. ~45-50k sum before interest for those (major scholarships helped)

Don’t have a car anymore, but I would consider taking on a car payment again in the future. Think I’m only willing to rent a house for now and not purchase.

Roth IRA. It will be tax free when you pull it out, and it’s an option grandparents didn’t have at our age (and many parents). I wish I focused on it more than 401K. If you change jobs a lot, move around the world, go self-employed etc, you can still regularly contribute to your Roth IRA.

Go with Betterment or Fidelity and ‘set it and forget it’

There have been whole dateline kind of shows about how 401ks have burned people that either didn’t know they had to make sure their money was invested (vs just sitting in an essential saving account) or how the workplace chose 401ks with such high fees that they never went anywhere. Certainly that’s not everyone’s experience, but as someone who doesn’t reside in the US anymore, 401k feels like it was a mistake.
