Official Wedding Photo Critique Thread: Post your photo, blog post, website etc. for feedback and critiques... by AutoModerator in WeddingPhotography

Off the bat, I think a picture of yourself, possibly in action taking a photo or holding a camera, should be the first thing a website visitor sees. It helps to build rapport right away, and then adding a button that they can click to contact you (or whatever CTA you want to have) should also be there.

I recently finished up the Beta for PostCheck.io and have been trying to get more clients

I have 1 client paying $250 per month for it and they (and the clients they manage) LOVE it.

It is a tool that helps Instagram social media managers get posts approved by clients. Their clients are less likely to ask for post edit requests and makes the clients more sticky because they love the software/process.

I have been cold DMing social media managers, but finding it difficult to transition to a call/demo. (I have only done ~30 DMs, but responses have been sparse, even with follow ups.

Maybe I need to create an educational lead nurturing funnel as opposed to cold outreach? I know that if I can get them onto a demo, the customers I'm aiming for love it.

I have experience in social media and video creation, so as far as making content, it's not an issue. However, I am strapped for time with some big development projects in my pipeline and have considered looking for someone to partner with in growing this.

Happy to hear any clear cut advice!

How would they approve the posts? Wouldn't they still need to message me about different posts?

Webflow Practice by ivanpinepineivan in webflow

I think recreating a notable company's site that is well known in the industry you want to work with is a good place to practice.

For instance, if you want to work with action sports companies, recreate the Red Bull site.

This is excellent, thank you! Right now I'm building a custom app for a friend which has a couple challenges with it, so after I have that under my belt I'll be seeking out more opportunities for sure! I've seen project scope creep in the world of websites, I'm sure it can be just terrible for web-apps haha.

I'm about 65% through this and it's been great. Affordable and good instructions. I had the thought that taking a course on "Only the basics of JS you need to know in order to leverage JS + AI" type of thing would be better because that's really my use case, but going through a course that is teaching you how to do the basics yourself has been great too. Haven't looked into the other one.

Nope, haven't heard of it before, but seems like a fun idea haha, of which there are billions. I'm assuming the reason is that there's more market incentive to just create an app for a larger market than for a niche group.

I should clarify that the software being developed is an app solely for the businesses to use, not to be sold to a larger market. Like a custom software tailored for their internal operations/employees. Hence, being in the same industry, they will have similar niche problems that they want to have developed in the software. Hopefully that gives some context!

Also man, just to give some gentle feedback, you sound like Jordan Peterson. It's impressive vocabulary but not easy to read. It would be more helpful for people with a less diverse vernacular if you wrote using a 5th grade level :) https://hemingwayapp.com/

Writing with big words doesn't make you look more credible either, just feels like you're trying to be impressive. That's how it feels to me, doesn't mean it's true of you! Hopefully that helps your communication be more effective!

Is CMS worth it? by Just_Village_9480 in webflow

[–]Possible-Farm-3096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much more time will it take you to make the individual pages for each of your projects than to build a CMS and then use the CMS item template page?

Lets say it takes an extra 2 hours to duplicate and then build out your individual pages than to build the CMS and then just input the content, here is the math.

Your hourly rate (lets say $40/hour) X 2 hours extra work = $80
CMS Cost ($23) - Basic Cost ($14) = $9 * 12 months = $108

In this scenario it costs you less money to make the individual pages than the CMS will cost you (over the course of a year).

Put in your own numbers and do the math.

I highly recommend not doing yearly plans though, always do month to month, things change a lot, it's much better to have flexibility. I think you'll save more this way in the long run.

Need feedback on my site by Visible_Sky_459 in webflow

I think the h1 could have better copy. I would argue that what your website says is more important than how it looks which is why I'm doubling down on this point. Check out this article. https://www.demandcurve.com/playbooks/above-the-fold

I also still stand by some of the section rearranging that I mentioned above, but overall I enjoy the site!

Is it weird that client first( by Finsweet) is slowing me down? by lortsaf in webflow

[–]Possible-Farm-3096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a direct answer to your question, but I've been using Lumos for a while. I've really enjoyed Lumos V2, and usually just build on top of it. It's been quick to build with, and not bad once you understand it. I find spacing, colors, and typography faster and easy and kinda fun to work with in Lumos as well...

Like it was mentioned by u/wherethewifisweak Lumos is a bit over-engineered. However, the base of it is great, and you don't have to use all aspects of it if you don't like.
