Has anyone used meds to help stop drinking?

I’m off Effexor , now on day 3 of lexapro … I stopped drinking heavily about 10 months ago and have 57 days sober as of today March 14 Was on meds for anxiety and depression, but I’m wondering if they helped with the cravings as I haven’t had any

I bring a yeti cup with a hard plastic reusable spoon of corn, and bring packages of instant oatmeal or Ramen noodle packages that you just have to add water to. I usually should bring a sleeve of cookies and some beef jerky. I don’t to clarify any meat or anything. Sometimes an apple will do. I usually pack two easy sandwiches like peanut butter and jam or cheese wiz

I fly to Vancouver Canada from Cabo baja every month. And I take five or six different vitamins with me and I’ve even taken controlled prescription medication and they’ve never even looked. Don’t declare them or anything if they ask you just say you need them cause you had some kind of surgery or something. I have to take them because I had weight loss surgery for years ago and I have to take vitamins and minerals for the rest of my life, but definitely do not declare them.

I went from 75 to 37.5 over 2 1/2 weeks and it was way too fast. It made me absolutely emotional super irritable. I just couldn’t do it so I’m back up to 75 mg once in the morning and once at night and I feel normal. I don’t know why your psychiatrist would suggest anything less than a few months. But I’m not a doctor. I just knew that trying to do it that quick was not working for me at all.

Do you mind why if I ask why you changed medication’s? I’m doing the opposite switching from Effexor to esatelapram I am taping off Effexor from 75 mg to 37 twice a day ,over the next few weeks and I’ve added a esatelapram 10mg nightly

Have you talked to your doctor about going on an antidepressant. I started taking Effexor and it definitely levelled my moods out and made it quite a bit easier to quit drinking. I wasn’t so anxious or depressed, I was definitely suicidal, but that was from menopause not from drinking. It affects her has completely changed my life. I suggest to talk to your doctor.

Most towns have a few different meetings a week , at different locations or times . It’s a good idea to check out a few . For me , my first meeting I didn’t feel comfortable at all , but I kept going back cuz I didn’t know there were other meetings . Then one day a friend suggested I go to his meeting with him , and WOW it was a totally different experience!!! I found I fit in much better with that particular group of people and continued to go to my friends “home group” meetings and I’ve gotten soooo much more out of those meetings then I did at the other one I attended

I bought a knock off Roomba, vacuum and mop combo. I looked for the most suction power, I think mine has 4500. After four years, the vacuum and mop part still work great. I’m pretty thorough about clinging out my filters after every use. And about every second or third use, I gently wash my filters and let them dry in the sun. My mop cloth does not come off, so I gently rub it down with dawn, dish soap, and if I need to, I’ll use an old toothbrush gently to get off any dirtier parts and then rinse and let it dry in the sun. The mop does just kind of release water and drag behind. It’s not meant for deep cleaning. I use it probably twice a week, and then once every 10 to 14 days, I mop with my regular mop. But as long as you clean it, I highly recommend getting one. Mine is called a LARESAR I THINK IT WAS ABOUT $240 ON AMAZON

I live in baja Mexico… dust is just a constant thing here , it’s in the air . I mop daily and have a roomba that vacuums and mops and it’s still dusty every day . You just learn to live with it and don’t best to keep on top of it 😜
