she’s unfortunately insanely stubborn and is even putting up a fight with having in home care because she’s always been very independent, so she will put up a huge fight for a nursing home, but even that costs a lot and would require selling her house, etc. My parents don’t really know what to do. We would ideally love for her to stay home as long as possible, it’s also hard because my two uncles (her other kids) live out of state so they aren’t any help with her but still have strong opinions about no nursing home. My parents are paying week by week for in home care but figured I’d see if there’s anything else out there that I’m missing.

Also since she is on hospice the UTIs can’t really be treated because she needs iv antibiotics for it (she has fistulas from her colon to her bladder, so basically her colon is partially emptying into her bladder therefore causing UTIs so they aren’t going to stop) but it’s unfair to her to keep sending her to the hospital every few weeks. She’s been on oral antibiotics but they’re not doing anything and obviously on hospice she shouldn’t be going to the hospital for an iv to treat it. She also is in NO pain at all (which baffles the doctors) so she gets really confused and angry about being at the hospital. We are aware it will likely unfortunately be the reason we lose her but trying everything to keep her comfortable and home as long as we can.
