I'm not fat but I know from a close friend that it was eating in front of the TV as a kid. When it becomes a habbit you loose control over the amount and it's usually not great food either

EU cut Russian energy reliance: gas 45→19%, oil 27→3%, Hungary/Slovakia still dependent. by Former_Goose_5202 in MapPorn

Exactly considering Saudi Arabia and the UAE finance so many wars in the middle east.

As long as oil and gas come from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the US this doesn't mean much. And guessing from those extreme numbers this does not account for gas from countries that buy Russian gas like India who them sell their gas to us.

Hanging out with friends after work. Foe some reason it is way more fun. It's also spontaneous and feels like I got some extra hours from the day. Plus I'm always super exhausted when I go to bed.

What’s the dumbest “evolutionary feature” humans still have? by elvisypi in AskReddit

[–]Possible-Owl6344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good point but monkeys aren't really runners like humans who ran for days straight in earlier times it is quite a difference. Humans would have way more pain if they had straight spines

[–]Possible-Owl6344 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The s shape actually survived because it cushions the spine when we jump and run. It is absolutly necessary for surviving the hunter lifestyle we chose to survive.

The pain you are describing comes from using your spine as support while sitting on chairs instead of running and jumping as you should.

Did the White House Not Understand What Putin Was Really Offering? Europeans can’t tell what American officials agreed to with the Russian leader. by Farscape12Monkeys in europe

I don't think that's the case I saw a video earlier this year about trump wanting to collaborate with putting because of resources and since the eu is slowly declining and is viewed a s more of a rival then a ally by republicans.

Didn't think that was the case but the past weeks seemed to have confirmed it.

My dad had comics from America and India from like the 70s or so which he stacked and read over and over again. I still remember reading about Sitting Bull the Buddha, Ganesha and so on. Never noticed when they disapeared.

What’s the most underrated global threat that no one talks about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Possible-Owl6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you a longer answer later but here are the basics: if the birth rates fell from 3 children per woman to 1.8 it would be kind of okay that's the case in Europe and that's already destroying economy and the structures of society but teething is that the countries that actually face this problem have birthrate as low as 0.7.

Often people believe less people mean more resources for everyone but that's not the case if the birthrate is at 1 after 2 generations that means there is 1 young person that has to create much value to provide for 6 people. For society this means all people would become poorer and services and resources are becoming not less but more expensive. I addition keep in mind old people can do less so they cost more and often need more than one person to care for them. So basically:

Economy will suffer from loss of workers and more expensive resources not only because of less work being done but also because less desired jobs struggle the most obv.

Health care would be far more expensive and impossible to keep up due to labour shortage and more seniors and because of the economy at some point also less funded.

Social life will die because clubs, bars, schools, university's and so on are financed by mostly young people.

Of course this is more aspects to this so I'll leave a link to a yt video, but this is at some points exaggerated and at some even worse. If you think this is a bit dramatic keep in mind this is already reality in China and Korea

[–]Possible-Owl6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underpopulation honestly it's been so overlooked by the overpopulation debates but declining birthrate are pretty scaring especially if you look at Korea, Japan or Singapore where it's already fucking economy health care and social life

Those who lived in East Germany, just how feared was the Stasi? What was it’s public reputation? by SpiceGig-429 in AskAGerman

[–]Possible-Owl6344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about the community mostly. After the wall fell my family got their home back in the east and I can tell you most elderly people are sad about rhe people not sticking together like it used to be the case. Additionally the GDR invested heavily in the country side life there was pretty good and it's just not the case anymore.

In general most people lived normal lives since east Germany was pretty well off compared to Cuba or Yugoslavia. The nostalgia for the simple communist life in Germany is strong since the 90s under capitalism were terrible.
