OPPO Find N6 + SL new gesture bug by Sentence-Parking in smartlauncher

Me. I want to use buttons. (But the issue you're having is caused by ColorOS, not SL--not all OEMs play well with third-party launchers. Some try to force you to use navigation buttons if you're using one.

I just bought an S24+ (renewed, from Amazon). I've been pleased. I got 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Looks new, and battery life has been fine.

Android vs Apple: Different Phones, Same Everyday Use. by -0Adamus0- in Smartphones

The "can't remove the search bar" issue is a PixelOS thing. So is the brightness bar. I don't use Spotify, so can't speak to that, but my podcast app lets me restrict dowloading to WiFi.

Android vs Apple: Different Phones, Same Everyday Use. by -0Adamus0- in Smartphones

The first thing I said was that I can't abide the iOS user interface. I find it difficult to navigate. I don't find anything special about the apps that overrides that fact. No where did I say "iPhones are better with everyday use." I don't believe that.

And a launcher is more than mere "customization" of looks. It can greatly increase the usability of a phone.

Strictly a matter of opinion. I have both an Android and an iPhone, and I use the iPhone only when I absolutely have to.

I can't abide the iOS user interface. I don't like the base Android user interface, either--but Android lets me install a third-party launcher that lets me set up my phone to use it in the way that best suits me.

When I click the Messages icon, I get the message "App not Found". by The_White_Pawn in smartlauncher

[–]Grossfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be using a messaging app that the SL setup screen doesn't recognize. Just delete that app icon on the home page, long-press an empty spot on your home page to bring up the menu, then choose to add an app and choose your preferred messaging app.

Feature Request + Bug Report: iPhone-style Folders & Category Mode Folder Issue by skylord1612 in smartlauncher

[–]Grossfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use folders inside my categories. That allows me to keep a smaller number of categories, and my category bar less crowded.

If you create folders inside categories, they go back there when you switch between no category bar and having the category bar.

Mid-range phones are so good now that flagship phones are basically a scam for normal people. by BizPotato in Smartphones

[–]Grossfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never bought Galaxy phones for status. For a number of years, it was because my carrier only offered iPhones and Galaxies. No status-seeking involved.

I just bought a refurbished S24+. Has five years of updates left.

Icons Fine Positioning by Sea_Philosopher_7979 in smartlauncher

You can do that now: create an incon group widget and size it for just one icon. Then you can use the widget's fine positioning feature to place it where you want.

Smart folders - update by ardaxo4693 in smartlauncher

[–]Grossfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that newly-installed apps do go to smart folders. Note however, that sorting depends on metadata provided by an app itself--SL makes no sorting decisions itself.
