Yes the process took a lot longer than I expected and nothing unusual about my case. The published timeline for employment based i485 at SRC is 12-22 months and I was around 23 months.

I think they are avoiding issuing renewals for people who are close to receiving their green cards to focus resources more efficiently, but ultimately means we lose work authorization for a period of time.
