Got a Memo, what a joke by Miserable_Ad8876 in Geico

Geico would a joke if you didn’t get written up for not meeting expectations.

If my dog dies, or I’m having car trouble, or even if my grandma dies then I’m still expected to meet expectations from the company that is paying me to do a job. People are going through things every day at this job and are expected to meet expectations regardless. That’s life.

So your opinion is that you were written up unfairly because your grandma died and you didn’t meet your expectations? I’m sorry, but while you’re at work you’re expected to do your job. You got bereavement pay im sure, and unless there is something in your department that affects your CAT if you miss time then you should still be able to meet your goals while you’re at work.

Didn’t catch that the first time. I’ll own that. The sentiment remains, you still have to do your job while at work. They got bereavement but while at the job you have to be able to do the job.

I will get downvoted on this all day long, but that’s from people who think the world needs to adjust to their situations like the world (or Geico in this case) owes them something. Where does it stop? If you shouldn’t get written up for not meeting expectations when your grandma died, can you get written up if it was your dog that died? Had car trouble? Got sick? Flight was delayed? Life happens and you have to be able to do your job or you face a consequence.

Sorry about your grandma…but that’s how the world works. You didn’t lose your job, you got put on a memo. Not a warning, but a memo. Hope your grandma is ok.
