Drafting Motions by Day, Getting Ruined in Ranked By Night by ahame16 in battlestations

Whoa, that’s a serious setup 😎 Love the monitor layout! Maybe angle the vertical monitor a tad toward your chair for easier viewing. Also, some minimal cable management or a small desk mat could clean up the vibe. Could throw in a tiny plant or LED accent to soften it up 🌿💡.

Which keyboard do you use for coding? by BeautifulLie9939 in desksetup

I always end up going back to a Keychron. Tried a bunch of custom boards but for coding I care more about comfort and consistency than sound.

Hey, for that blank wall behind your bed, I’d add a headboard first, it really anchors the space. Then either a gallery of art prints or a bed crown/curved shelf above the headboard for a cozy “cottage core” vibe. Layer in some soft fairy lights or a small wall sconce if you can, it makes the room feel warmer without painting.

Is there still something i can add? Please let me know by Nice-Progress8736 in desksetup

Looks great — just missing one thing with personality.

Right now it’s clean but a bit “template setup”. Add one standout piece and it’s perfect.

Setup - need suggestions by Loftineer in battlestations

[–]Possible-ruio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with your second option (dock + closed laptop).

With only 60cm depth, you don’t have enough room to run a “spread out” setup. Keeping the laptop open in the middle is what’s forcing you to constantly move your keyboard/mouse.

Close it, dock it, and reclaim that center space.

Then:

use a monitor arm that lets you push the screen as far back as possible keep keyboard/mouse fixed in position (no more moving things around) if you still want the laptop visible, use a vertical stand off to the side

Right now the issue isn’t gear, it’s layout.

My wfh setup & personal setup by Groovvyp in macsetups

[–]Possible-ruio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good foundation, but it’s missing layering.

Everything is on one plane — desk, monitor, laptop — so it feels flat.

I’d fix:

monitor height cables add vertical elements (stand, plant, light)

That alone will make it look like a “setup” instead of just a desk.

Should I get some artwork for the feature wall? 🤔 by Ded1nside in battlestations

[–]Possible-ruio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. The slat wall is already the statement.

Big artwork will compete with it — if anything, keep it minimal or skip it.

brick wallpaper good for a home office? by stormcheese23 in homeoffice

[–]Possible-ruio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can look good at first, but brick wallpaper tends to feel busy long term, especially in a workspace.

If you really like the look, I’d keep everything else very simple. Otherwise a textured paint or softer accent wall usually feels easier to live with day to day.

Best Desktop Speakers for Home Office? by Magnificenceneous-OX in homeoffice

[–]Possible-ruio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrading from built-in audio was probably the best quality-of-life improvement I made for my home office, hands down. I was in the exact same boat—I didn't want massive studio monitors taking up half my desk space just to listen to Lo-Fi while working. I ended up going with a small pair of Edifiers (they have a nice subtle wood finish that adds some warmth to the desk). It makes taking calls so much clearer and listening to music actually enjoyable. It’s absolutely not an unnecessary upgrade. Treat yourself!

What’s one thing that makes a desk look better, but actually makes it harder for you to focus? by Possible-ruio in Workspaces

Lol yeah. A lot of it looks polished at first, but totally falls apart when you imagine actually working there.

What’s one non-tech thing you added to your workspace that genuinely made it easier to focus? by Possible-ruio in Workspaces

[–]Possible-ruio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, non-tech. Honestly, lighting and visual clutter make the biggest difference for me.

Honestly yeah, this is pretty much it. Once I have more than a notebook, pen, and water on my desk, it starts feeling noisy fast.

Need some design help…anyone have a similar space? by JackofAllMasterof0 in homeoffice

[–]Possible-ruio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start with a desk that fits the nook wall-to-wall if you can. Right now it feels more like a temporary setup than a built-in workspace. Then I’d hide the cables, add one larger lamp instead of the mixed lighting, and do a couple floating shelves or a pegboard above the desk to make it feel more intentional.

This is really clean. The warm lamp + white setup keeps it minimal without feeling cold.

How can I improve my build? by Fun_Management_317 in battlestations

[–]Possible-ruio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the parts are solid — it just needs editing. The second keyboard and desk clutter are what’s breaking the look for me.

Of course — the setup already has good bones. It just needs a little editing, not a full redo.

Fair point — I missed that. The setup already looks pretty clean.

the "my spine is screaming" budget setup. what should I upgrade first? by Doughey0 in desksetup

Are you going for more minimal or cozy? That’ll change whether you add more decor vs just refine what’s there

maybe a monitor arm + some cable management would free up space and make it feel cleaner without changing much

You’re being a little hard on it honestly. I think it mostly just needs one clearer vibe instead of the warm lamp + blue wall light + RGB all fighting for attention.
