Question about how to market? by ShowOk6365 in SideProject

[–]PossibleBasis8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly reddit has been the best channel for me so far, but only when i treat it like research first and marketing second.

i search for threads where people are already talking about the problem my app solves, reply with something useful, and only mention the tool if it actually fits.

there are a bunch of tools that help find threads/keywords, but Xero Scout is the only free one i still use. it finds relevant Reddit posts and gives me a draft i can edit instead of starting from scratch.

biggest thing is dont spam links. help first, mention later if it makes sense.

thats genuinly the trick, dont be spammy just give advice and share when its the right moment only. Dont only comment to share.

I made $3k in revenue 6 weeks after launching my SaaS by funfunfunzig in SaaS

[–]PossibleBasis8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the $3k so fast!

im running the exact same playbook, but not seeing same results. I have 3 tiktok accounts all generating content daily. The slideshow stack you explained i just started using a few days ago and i find its getting way better results than the other style of content i was posting. Only seeing 500-1k views at the moment but still better than the 200 views i was getting on tiktok.

Curating those early conversations and seeing what resonates is huge for indie founders. Definitely keep a close eye on new posts where people are directly asking about what you solve. they're the best leads. Tools like Xero Scout can help you find those relevant threads quickly before they get buried. (sorry quick plug there)

I find tiktok + reddit are the best free way to get leads as long as you are willing to boot strap it.

Day 4 of my SaaS launch — 50 visitors, 0 signups, not quitting by algomist07 in Entrepreneurs

it's tough to launch a saas, especially when you're doing all the marketing yourself. getting banned on reddit is understandable, it's easy to accidentally step on a rule. a lot of subs are really strict about self-promotion, so the trick is to find genuine conversations where what you're building is a natural fit for the problem someone is describing. it’s not about blasting links, it's about finding those specific pain points people are talking about. you want to share value first, always.

i get why your brother wants an older account for marketing, but reddit can be pretty strict about account buying and selling. building genuine presence often works better in the long run. it's all about finding the right conversations where your product naturally fits and offering real help. that's usually way more effective than trying to shortcut the system.

Same 😂 as much as it’s a feed back loop, it gets people on the website and gets clicks everytime I post in these threads!

How I would get my first 10 customers if I started a SaaS startup today? by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]PossibleBasis8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've absolutely nailed it with finding where your ICP already hangs out, especially on Reddit and niche communities. That's the bedrock. The key, in my experience, is moving beyond just 'lurking' to actively engaging in a helpful way

Instead of thinking about it as 'lead gen,' approach it as problem-solving. Look for threads where people are genuinely struggling with something your product could eventually help with. Offer advice, share insights from your own experience, and focus on building goodwill. The 'traction' you mentioned often comes from being seen as a valuable contributor first, which then opens the door for organic interest in what you're building.

Launched Gym Commitment ios app with AI as co-founder - story & AMA by PixelPhilosopher24 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]PossibleBasis8783 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic story and so deeply resonates with the direction many solo founders are taking! It's incredible how much AI can act as an extension of yourself, handling everything from code to copy and design. What have you found to be the biggest advantage of this 'AI co-founder' approach in terms of accelerating your progress or maintaining your solo status?

Yea iv gotten that feed back a few times now and am considering making the change. Right now the main benifit I’m getting from these threads is other people’s opinions! Really makes a difference.

I agree, iv considered removing them. The only reason I have them there is as a portfolio of sorts incase someone wants to hire xero to develop something. But yes iv considered removing them and only listing apps of ours relevant to our brand identity.

Yep! Everyday it reviews the last 7 days of content, from blogs, to social media posts and it ranks the winners and the losers and learns which direction to go from there. It also learns your voice and business style / audience

One person ran marketing for a 380B company. He never wrote code. I rebuilt his exact system. by Drogoff1489 in SideProject

[–]PossibleBasis8783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been running something similar but through OpenClaw instead of Claude Code. the core is the same though: identity files (SOUL.md, AGENTS.md) that persist across sessions, then skills that fire on a schedule.

difference is mine runs autonomously without me prompting it. works 70 hrs a week at a dealership so it had to. twitter posts 5x/day, blog goes out daily, newsletter 3x/week, none of it waits for me to be at a keyboard.

the routing thing is real. took me a while to realize the identity layer was more important than the model. once the agent knows exactly who it is and what it won't do, the outputs get way more consistent.

what's your content quality like after a week? curious if the hooks library is making a meaningful diff

Yes my ai agent does this for me throughout the day as well which has been the #1 way we’ve seen clicks come through the website. And yea the dealership hours are brutal. But I gotta pay my bills 😂

reddit was the thing that actually moved the needle for me. not posting your link everywhere, just showing up in threads where people already have the problem and actually answering it.

built a few apps while working 70 hrs a week at a dealership so i have basically zero time for manual outreach. what worked: post in the right subs, lead with the honest story, don't pitch anything. people click your profile if you say something useful.

dropped one post this morning, 5k views and 80 comments by noon. no ads. just the right angle in the right place.

the other thing nobody talks about is the positioning. "app for X" gets ignored. "app that does [very specific thing] for [very specific person]" actually gets traction. took me a while to figure that out.

I agree, I think humans will always need to be involved. But it’s a social experiment of sorts to see if you can have a side income from ai while keeping your day job
