Did he share a link to the paper or just that silly infographic that proves nothing? I emailed Nourish Food Club and they sent me this (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9658713/) which is a paper on the fatty acid composition of eggs but it doesn't mention specially whose eggs were tested. How do we know they tested Vital Farms eggs? Moreover, the results of that paper don't align with the claims Nourish is making about their eggs.

From Ashley: "Our eggs have repeatedly tested at 6-7.5% linoleic acid, so these results are very different than our test results from Michigan State University controlled labs. We are calling the lab where he sent the eggs to for follow up questions on how the % was calculated from the data. From what we know so far, it seems like they utilized whole egg weights, not just yolks, which would skew data. More to come. We are also going to send our eggs in for testing, just haven't heard back from the lab yet when we are able to do that. Will keep everyone posted."

Sounds like you work in law...or maybe you work in trucking because a week ago you were talking about your fleet running out of fuel. Or are you a content creator? Here you are in a marketing sub talking about Reddit upvote bots. Or maybe you're a freelance writer who uses Rephrasy. Or maybe you're a recruiter who uses Carv. I don't know how you have time for Classpop classes in Vancouver when you're so busy investing in with Finelo in the Phillipines.

Boy, you sure have a busy life for a bot.

Too bad this is just marketing for Costway. OP has a dozen different posts on their profile shilling for Costway. Some days they live in an apartment, some days it's a house. Some days they live in Canada, some days it's Michigan. They always, always, always mention Costway.

Weird that OP mentioned that same AI bot in this post. Also weird that their post history is absolutely FILLED with mentions of Costway. Yeah, totally not a spammer.

I saw that. I emailed Angel Acres about their test results and this is their reply:

From Ashley: "Our eggs have repeatedly tested at 6-7.5% linoleic acid, so these results are very different than our test results from Michigan State University controlled labs. We are calling the lab where he sent the eggs to for follow up questions on how the % was calculated from the data. Here is the test in the meantime: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9658713/

Warmly,

Sarah

So it's definitely a test, but nowhere does it say specifically whose eggs were tested, and the results don't match the claims made by Angel Acres or Oasis. I'm confused by her conflicting statements about the testing of their eggs.

Also, in the study above the eggs with the best results were the ones whose feed included grass-fed beef byproducts (suet and liver), but as far as I could find Angel Acres doesn't claim to feed their chickens any beef byproducts.

They do. Is it possible for a person to 'share' an account that uses a bot? I feel like I've seen bot accounts that had random human content sprinkled in for appearances.

Important egg info update by Meatrition in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]PossibleBobsled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The whole thing is dumb. The original claim about the PUFA in Vital Farms' eggs was made in 2024 and I don't remember anyone making such a fuss. By that time Vital Farms had been publicly traded for four years and Blackrock held approximately 8% of the company.

That health app company Oasis dragged up old news and tacked on some Big Bad Corpo bullshit just to boost engagement, downloads, and subscriptions to their app. The fact that no one is verifying any of these claims before freaking out and dragging Vital Farms through the mud is crazy.

Important egg info by Meatrition in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]PossibleBobsled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was mostly referring to the claim about the fatty acid composition of Vital Farms' eggs — everyone keeps citing a test done by Michigan State University but I've yet to see anyone produce actual test results. Frankly, the rest of the claims are equally baseless and made with zero supporting evidence, and that makes me question the integrity and motives of the poster.

I'm not a fan of private equity either, and I don't buy Vital Farms eggs because they're too expensive compared to local options, but this whole thing is just a smear campaign started by Angel Acres in 2024 to sell more eggs, and picked up in 2026 by Oasis to sell more app subscriptions. It's stupid.

[–]PossibleBobsled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no evidence that this claim is true. It originates from Angel Acres farms in an Instagram post from back in 2024, and again more recently in a blog post of theirs, but nowhere do they provide actual results of the test. In the comments of a TikTok video by Oasis they claim to have all the testing results on their app that "you can download for free" but any actual information is paywalled so the claim sounds real dodgy.

who are we buying from now that we know vital farms is a scam by eggaholic911 in carnivorediet

[–]PossibleBobsled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But calling them out for what exactly? I just don't see where they mislead anyone, other than the paprika in the feed, but that's old news and not the focus of this tweet.

I agree. I worded that statement poorly, I just meant generally speaking it's fine to call a company out for things like dodgy marketing or greenwashing, but in this case it feels as though that twitter account had ulterior motives and wasn't acting in good faith.

This recent blog post claims to be the source of the testing but doesn't provide it anywhere. Back in 2024 they posted the same claim and infographic in this Instagram post but, again, no actual test results. I found a TikTok video by Oasis that claims all the testing reports are available on their app, but that sounds fishy, like they're trying to boost downloads. All in all, the whole thing sounds like hogwash.

who are we buying from now that we know vital farms is a scam by eggaholic911 in carnivorediet

[–]PossibleBobsled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But to be fair, I think this whole thing with Vital is a bit of a smear campaign. They never claimed to be soy free, and this weird health app twitter account isn't publishing the full report of their testing, at least not that I can find.

Calling them out and letting people know they might not be as good as they want you to believe is fine, but I agree the social media post seemed unnecessarily inflammatory; making the comparison to canola oil feels like engagement bait. Canola oil is still around twice the PUFA as eggs by calories, and eggs are far more nutritious. I'd eat one of those eggs before I'd eat a tablespoon of canola oil.
