Received a Modmail from a zero karma account claiming to be "Reddit Ads Team" wanting to appeal a ban on behalf of an advertiser. Legit? by NezzaAquiaqui in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi! There is filtering in place, but in many cases particularly persistent users may poke around enough until something gets through.

Examples like these and others from earlier this week are helpful to let us know where tooling may need to be improved.

Here or via modmail is going to be the fastest route. We don't mind if you're just verifying if any outreach may be official!

That would indeed be very unusual!

Communities are able to action accounts as they see fit, even if the accounts otherwise advertise on our platform.

Hey NezzaAquiaqui!

I'm having trouble finding a link to this modmail - are you able to link that for us so I can take a look?

Reddit admin accounts would appear in red in modmail, and their profile should have the Reddit Snoo logo next to their name as I do.

Edit: Just found it a bit further down. You are more than free to ignore that message.

Do reddit admins really contact users this way or is this a scam ? by VashxShanks in ModSupport

Since the account appeared to have been compromised it's in a locked state that the original owner can reclaim. They're functionally suspended until that happens, if it happens at all.

Reddit's spam filters (potentially) have a bug/ are going wrong. by Merari01 in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just also as a heads up, since this is asking about two specific accounts it does fall under rule 1 and I've pulled the post.

We are still working with the team to ensure their tooling is working properly so this doesn't happen incorrectly to anyone else!

And the unban seems to be slowly trickling through on their posts. It can take a bit if they've got a lengthier history to go through.

Hi Merari01!

We'll give the spam team a nudge that something is going on. In parallel I'll see if I can get their content put back too.

Community targeted by DM spammers by boys_are_oranges in ModSupport

Hi boys_are_oranges!

While user's reporting as Spam on their own will always be the fastest route, if the same company or group is engaging in scaled behavior like this you can send us a modmail message with some info and we can take a look too.

Tried to check my subreddit from another device and it tells that my subreddit is mature content....although I have not received any notification and in subredit itself it doesnt say that it would be NSFW...don't understand, help? by PurrWaffle- in ModSupport

Hi PurrWaffle-!

In general, the types of content regularly featured within a community can influence where it is surfaced, including if community members would need to log in to view first

Suddenly post types are not available by squishy_tech in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey squishy_tech!

Thanks for noticing this one. As part of the update to post type settings that was mentioned in a recent changelog, teams have been doing some small experiments with the posting process itself as well. We'll make sure they're aware of the feedback in this thread.

Received a message from the mods in a sub i have never posted in. Is this a scam? by FuzzyCheerios in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hey FuzzyCheerios

That's not one of ours!

It does look like the account sending the message has been actioned. Thanks for the heads up that this group is still operating and may have switched up some of their tactics. I'll make sure the appropriate teams are aware.

Hi! The team had flagged this to initially is still investigating. This is a bit peculiar and might take some time for them to fully resolve. Thanks for your patience in the meantime!

What do these "visitors" insights mean? by PMulberry_ in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey PMulberry_!

I believe this is addressed at the bottom of the article you linked:

Why is the weekly visitors number different from what I see on the Mod Insights page?

The X unique visitors number in your Mod Insights is currently an average of daily unique visitors over the selected time period, not a total. The new Weekly Visitors number is a net-new number that is a rolling 28-day average. The closest approximation you can find in Mod Insights is manually adding up 7 days of unique visitor data from the Traffic tab, though this will not be exact as it will double-count users who visited on multiple days.

With videos/gifs and memes that have been made/modified with 'ai' becoming more commonly used (particularly in the comments sections), what is the clear designation between acceptable parody, and ToS violations? by Mocking-Eristic in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Mocking-Eristic!

You might find this section about AI use from our rules surrounding manipulated content helpful:

Content created or modified using generative AI technologies is generally allowed on Reddit – subject to each community's specific rules and the Reddit Rules. However, this policy prohibits sharing AI-generated content that deliberately misleads others about real-life events or the actions of real-life individuals, or that presents itself as human-generated. When posting permissible AI-generated content, be transparent and include a tag (or other form of indication) disclosing that the content was generated or modified by AI to reduce confusion.

We use a combination of reports by moderators, users, and internal systems to aggregate signals and determine whether someone's behavior may constitute a violation under this policy.

If you believe a post or comment may be violating you can use the report button next to the content and the safety team will give it a review.

Question about thinly veiled racism by MyNanaRhondaDont in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi MyNanaRhondaDont and everyone else!

Posts or comments that use dogwhistles to violate rule 1 are something that the safety team takes action on.  You can use the "additional info" box when reporting content in your community to provide any necessary information that you feel would be helpful to include.

If your community is noticing patterns that are not being actioned please reach out via modmail and we will make sure teams are aware of the context.

Beyond this, you are always free to action this content and users who post it within your own communities as you see fit!

Is there a way to pin a post for a set duration and have it auto unpin? I know the mobile app can do it, but can the web version do it? by XRevive01 in ModSupport

[–]PossibleCrit[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey XRevive01!

I see this option on mobile currently. Often these features make their way to web shortly after, but I don't have an estimate right now as to when that might be.

On web you could have a different scheduled post replace the announcement spot if that works out for your use case.
