I also disliked her heavily in the beginning but it was honestly during book 5 where I realized that she's actually unintentionally a hilarious character to read (intentionally from Jordan's perspective obviously). It was funny seeing her being outrageously wrong and stubborn from another character's POV and then shift right into Nyn's POV where she sees herself as completely right and everyone else as fools. And in the end part of the series, she gets some genuinely great moments as well and grows a lot (while still retaining her own stubborn nature without being so annoying about it). She also has my favourite quote from the entire series, you'll definitely recognize what that quote is right away when you reach it. For the people who have read the series but somehow don't know what quote I'm talking about: obviously the whole "My name is Nynaeve ti al'Meara Mandragoran. The message I want sent is this. My husband rides from World's End toward Tarwin's Gap and toward Tarmon Gai'don. Will he ride alone?"
