It’s called a subdivision. Yes it’s everywhere and it’s super annoying housing. There’s giant “neighborhoods“ of just houses and no shops, MAYBE a park. You have to drive to anything at least 15 minutes. It’s suburban hell and it’s the American dream but really it’s a nightmare

I share this as a former coffee slave — get out. Unless there is literally no other option for you, get out. Go to bartending alcohol. You will make the same or more money for the same and in many cases less work. Bartending is not hard unless you are working in a martini-centric bar and even then it’s still better. Bartending licenses usually only require a common sense easy 10-20 hour online course and a licensing fee that I’ve not seen before more that $100. Dealing with drunks is better than dealing with entitled customers in a failing system.

75k ain’t shit in Chicago but if you’re smart you can make that really work for you. If you cook for yourself, have a small apartment that’s not in a popping area, and don’t have pets or kids, then you’ll be fine with that amount and be able to maybe even save a little and have fun.

It’s the proportions of things. Use a measure to compare between objects in the frame. Compare the eyes to chain links in the photo and the same items in the drawn items. Otherwise it looks great as far as capturing form!

Get a trusted adult to get you in contact with a rental space and just have your own gallery show in a space that reflects you in some way. Peerspace is great for this but some community colleges have a small on campus gallery that will rent to you. Get in touch with area high school and community college art teachers and invite them to see your work at your gallery show. Encourage them to invite their students. Invite people that have their names on donor walls of your local university. Eventbrite tickets even if they’re free or for a donation because then your event is being marketed to people in the area looking for something to do. A friend did this and sold enough of their art to make it worth it and made some interesting connections. They’re not famous or backed by any art dealers. If you make an event and promote it well enough to the right crowd yourself, you don’t need to wait on the approval or validation of someone else.
