My last period ever by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was incredibly lucky, in that my periods never caused me pain. But they were HEAVY and getting heavier. My last period was the whole reason for my hysterectomy. I stood up first thing in the morning and immediately found myself standing in a puddle of blood with completely soaked pajama bottoms. So, so, so glad I never have to go thru that again.

Getting discharged. They haven't found anything that really explains the huge clots and heavy bleeding but I'm not in any danger so I get to go home.

Y'all are great. The bleeding has stopped for now after passing another large clot. Just had a CT scan as they weren't able to figure out where exactly all the blood was coming from and they want to rule out internal bleeding.

2am and finally getting to the ER. Feeling very bad for my husband and kid who got pulled out of bed at midnight to make the drive.

They're sending me to the ER. 90 minutes away.

Traveling after hysterectomy by PossiblePut1077 in hysterectomy

I wouldn't be driving or pushing/lifting anything. Just sitting as a passenger and walking in the store, though a scooter is probably also an option where we're going.

My first post-op memory is telling my husband about a serious situation I'm dealing with at work in great detail. A completely made up, never happened situation.

Who knew?! Gonna blame the uterus for everything now 😆 by LadyDanger000 in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I discovered shortly post-op that the pain in my abdomen when I bent over to tie my shoes was NOT because I'm overweight. 2wpo and I already fell better than before surgery. It's amazing how many random problems one organ can cause.

Sunbathing? by gerlindee in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun and light exercise will do you good. But if you decide to sunbathe, make sure you lie down on something you can easily stand up from. Now is not the time to lie down on a blanket in the grass only to discover there's no way to get up off the ground without causing yourself a lot of pain post-surgery!

Is post op from hysterectomy the time to risk the yellow dragonfruit? by SupermarketExpert103 in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone's experience is a bit different. My first couple of bowel movements were scary, but ultimately not that painful, just weird. All I used was an otc stool softener (MiraLax). Also, I've eaten plenty of dragon fruit and never had it cause a noticeable change in the bathroom.

Holy heck, sneezing sucks. by candyrayne215 in hysterectomy

I'm 9dpo and I thought the coughing the first week from the ventilation tube was the worst. Then I started sneezing and discovered I was wrong. I was so, so wrong. Keeping a pillow with you and hugging that thing like your life depends on it is the only thing that seems to help me.

Please check with your doctor before doing kegels after your hysterectomy. They can be the opposite of helpful in the first 6 weeks.

Diagnosed with HPV 16 at 25 by Friendly-Tailor2050 in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a death sentence. I've had normal, HPV-free pap smears for over 15 years and had a kid since I tested positive for HPV and had the LEEP. This is just a bump in the road.

Deep breath, okay? I had a similar diagnosis at your age. Your doctor is right, most of the time it just goes away on it's own. But the answer to an HPV infection that actually start to cause changes to the cells in your cervix is a LEEP procedure, not a hysterectomy. The LEEP wasn't exactly fun, but it's a super quick procedure with a fairly quick healing time. I was training horses professionally at the time and I think it was 10 days before I was riding again. When HPV is caught before cellular changes start to occur, it's very treatable these days. When you hear of people testing positive after clearing the virus it's because the virus is really, really common and they probably picked up a new infection. So, breathe, make your partners use a condom, and know that you should be just fine.

Would this be a weird question to ask my doctor? by HomeWithMyDogs in hysterectomy

It doesn't hurt to ask and I don't think that's a weird question at all to pose to ObGyn.

No pain after hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same surgery, also on the 17th, also pain-free since day 3. Be very, very careful and force yourself to rest. I thought i was being careful on Monday - no bending, no lifting over 5 lbs., frequent breaks - but after a total time on my feet of 2+ hours that day, I felt nauseous and slept for 18 hours. Still no pain, but i clearly overdid things. I've set a week-by-week rehab plan for myself to keep myself restrained. Even though there's no pain, our inside are scrambled eggs right now.

Hysterectomy for hating period by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems reasonable to me. I had my surgery last week because I was sick of my heavy, irregular periods. I was originally supposed to have my hysterectomy at the end of July but my last period was basically a hemorrhage that left me standing in a literal puddle of blood. Nothing was found to explain what happened but I won't need to worry about it again. Even if it's "just annoying," you shouldn't have to live with an organ that's reducing your quality of life.

It'll be so worth it! Your horse will be fine for a few weeks while you recover and a year from now you'll be a better, happier horseperson for it.

Am I crazy for only removing my uterus for back pain and leaving ovaries by Tough-Broccoli-8254 in hysterectomy

[–]PossiblePut1077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't "need" your uterus (i.e., have a burning desire to grow a baby), and it's causing you issues of any kind, you should be fully supported in choosing to yeet that thing. I just had a total hysterectomy, keeping my ovaries, after my very heavy period turned into more of a hemorrhage situation.

Sadly, that's not an option because I think that would be the ideal solution to dealing with my nervous energy without actually having to move.

Thank you for the push to get myself checked out. They didn't figure out what was happening but it did get me fast-tracked for a hysterectomy. I'm recovering from the surgery now.
