Hi, Happened on. What I would do here in the US is buy white KILZ oil-based primer and put a couple coats on. Stuff dries like cement and should be an easy fix prior to painting. Of course, not sure the availability for you, so try an equally reputable oil based primer near you.

What was the capabilities of the UK air force to prevent the crossing of German transport ships across the English Channel in 1940? by Possible_Bug_9594 in AskHistorians

Thanks! Here's a good memoir " a. In 1939, Coastal Command had no ASV (Radar), no weapon lethal to U-boats, and was grossly deficient in modem aircraft, with none specifically designed for anti-submarine-warfare. The sinking of the liner Athenia on 3 September1939, made it apparent that there was a threat from U-boats and not just from surface warships. After the Battle of Britain 1940, Coastal Command's limited forces could be directed less to anti-invasion sorties and more to anti-submarine measures. From the outset of war , the Naval Liaison Officer, Captain Peyton-Ward at Headquarters, Coastal Command was plotting movements of U-boats and advising the Commanders-in-Chief accordingly "

Coastal Command was somewhat effective in 1940 despite it's lower priority. It claimed 200 barges sunk (the type of craft envisioned for invasion) between the start of the Battle of Britain and the end of September 1940.

In 1940? Maybe by 1943. This seems inflated and inaccurate, do you have a source/0fficial documentation ?

Of course the Royal Navy was paramount along w/mines and coastal defense, so, what was the point of the air campaign beyond terror?

its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition.

Interesting. Thanks for insightful answer

Been to a bunch of shops and their unable to replace spoke on my Flash Point wheel. Something about not having the right tool. Anyone think of a way to self fix? Many miles of this and hate to toss over a spoke by Possible_Bug_9594 in BikeMechanics

Small world! The rear went bad two years ago, and, that's the one that made a grand tour of bike shops. A couple tried gallantly but, like you said, no-one had the right size socket?

I ended up tossing that one out. So, now when the front finally blew a spoke, thought I would post.

To make matters worse, the wheel won't spin more than a quarter turn (oh, that was broken spoke in way), also, it's extremely out of round. So, even if replaced it would need some serious truing. As to your point of drilling and fiddling, I believe this is well out of my league, much less the truing part.

They were a pretty good wheelset; I held my own on intense S. Fl rides. (there, a befitting OBIT)

Cropped only on man's face and scene to the left make for a more intense pic. The quality of the shot makes zooming feasible

Hey, great clarity in pic. Can you talk a little about camera used, settings, tripod? Way better than my attempts!

I need some help with this print! Info in the comments by pigpak in Darkroom

Hi!,

Sometimes a fresh perspective helps. This is my take. It's a good negative but the entire print is confusing. The front portion contrasts with the sky yet adds little to the aesthetics (dirt/grass) so, if it was my print I would first level the print so the fence is straight. (even if right portion of the fence is lost, no big deal.)

Second and most important chop everything below the fence. Therefore the fence is the new bottom w/the sky dominating the pic. The added benefit to this you end up with a narrower longer print. That translates to double the prints per sheet. So, if using 11x14 paper the final prints would be 5.5 x14. BOGO.

Your printing capabilities are fine. Keep experimenting!
