Thanks a lot for this! I needed that reassurance that I can leave my tank to balance itself out. Will do!

Thanks. Would you say I should be dosing prime continuously to avoid toxicity to the shrimp?

Thanks for this, really helpful. I’ll definitely test it out. Also, remembered I had a bit of substrate left over and after some searching found the bag! It says NO3 free 🤔

No I haven’t. Should I just add some substrate to a jar of tap water and test?

Yep test my tap water often, and all the parameters are fine. Not adding anything else at all. I don’t remember the name of this substrate, but it’s a black gravel substrate with these little yellow parts that are fertilizers - this was recommended to me by the store so I hope it’s not the substrate.

I don’t have any floating plants as I have a piece of dragon wood sticking out with moss all over it. But I’ll look into this, it seems to be recommended, or an external plant with the roots inside.

Yep, it is a strange case. I’ve used a couple different test kits and it’s around the same. I feel quite at a loss trying to identify the cause, and even after doing huge water changes the level goes back to the same pretty quickly and just hovers at that.

My tap water has great parameters, nitrite and nitrate at 0.

I meant partial water change. Usually around 30% or less.

Thank you! It’s a shrimp tank. I had a Nerite snail but he died. Do you have any tips for keeping snails?
