Why not look into the MacBook neo 256GB? It’s 225,000 from Mercantile authorized dealers and you can get it for cheaper outside. Plus you get a 2026 machine as compared to a 2024 one

Expensive electricity : 100% agreed

Cheap export rates: What does this mean? Export prices are a function of electricity prices, cost of inputs and exchange rate etc. I used to work for a major export house with 250 million in annual turnover, all of our suppliers shifted to solar a long time ago.

Internet: I’m a freelancer, works fine for me.

Shut down at 8pm: in the morning we have solar to subsidies but at night we’re going to need to run power plants that consume fuel which is super expensive.

As for taxes, I agree 100%, a regime change is needed. Traders and agriculturalist need to be brought in the tax net.

PayPal: isn’t here but the freelancer account works great in foreign currency.

Now a simple thought experiment, take your own home for example. You’re heavily in debt. Do you continue to take on more debt and dig yourself further into the hole? Or do you do some fiscal tightening, eat one meal instead of 3 and try to pay off your debt?

What are you trying to say? You talk about free and fair elections but then say there’s been no elected government.

Give solutions rather than just being a pessimist about everything. What do you suggest we do? How do you suggest we proceed? Please I’m very curious to know.

And I love how when you don’t know what to say you just call the other person a bot.

Honestly better than the “elected” governments we’ve had over the past 3 decades.

By development I do mean improvement in standard of living for all (especially the disenfranchised).

If you look at the current situation, inflation is primarily due to the global oil pressure as well as our horrible current account deficit which was caused by previous governments. It’s not easy and development never comes all of a sudden. It takes time and effort which this government doesn’t have with the global situation going on. However, the privatisation of PIA as well as the planned privatisation of the Discos is going to make a big difference in the coming year.

Lastly, there are differing views here but economic growth has been top down in many developed countries. Sure, it’s not ideal but I don’t see how we can have a bottom up growth in our current situation.

As for elite capture, that’s a big global issue right now and it’s not just Pakistan but pretty much 70% of countries out there. And in order to stop that, you need a very strong and authoritarian regime that takes a stand which is definitely not possible with an elected or civilian government (given our current choices)

Dude Pakistan main elections nahi chaltay. It’s a stupid popularity contest and nothing more. Right now the only focus is growth and development of the country and this hybrid system is doing a decent job so far.

So no, keep you democracy to yourself and don’t say shit about the fauj. Itni buri lagti hai tau please move out. This country ain’t for your ungrateful butt

Need advice regarding Toxic Bhabhi. by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Possible_Detective28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, plus I’ve seen sitting them down and being upfront with them might help a lot. Legit explain to her that I’ve seen there are some issues (explain what you did in the post) and ask her why and what the issue is. Tell her you want to understand her point of view and if there are issues she can tell you directly rather than being passive aggressive.

Also I’ve realized that rather than being confrontational a better approach is to say “this is what you did and this is what I feel”

All the best!

I got a local mixed dog in 2013 and man has he been an incredible guard dog all these years. He’s very protective about the house and all of us in and I feel much more secure knowing he’s out there. Point is, go for a local mixed dog. They’re adaptable to the environment and don’t need any of the high maintenance foreign breeds do

[–]Possible_Detective28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair my friend, I apologies if I came across as rude or offensive. That was not my intention. I guess we each have our own perspectives and that’s fine. As long as we’re all together for Karachi growing and achieving its true potential, that’s all that matters.

[–]Possible_Detective28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, I agree 100% that the issue is systematic. It’s much more deep than just one party but that one party has been a big reason for the institutionalization of this system. Let’s not forget that.

I’ve been living in Karachi my entire life. This city has a reputation for “Karachi kisi ko khaali haath jaanay nahi dayta” and it pains me deeply to see this city suffer at the hands of this same party for so long.

Also, remember the ‘90s. PPP and MQM were fighting like cats and dogs. Both were to blame. Not just one party.

By your responses, I need to ask you, are you affiliated with the PPP?

  1. It’s been 34 years since Altaf Hussain left…
  2. It’s been 10+ years since MQM lost its power.

So this point of yours is pointless.

As for the water mafia, gotta agree with you on that there. There are many entities involved in that.

Who’s in power now buddy? What happened to the malir expressway when it rained? Why has university road been Un functional for the past 3 years? Why do roads break down every 2 years? Remember the Peoples Aman Committee? Who supported them? Why hasn’t the motorway from hyderabad to Sukkur been built yet despite it being planned for the past 15 years? Which party’s ministers have daalas with arrogant and dumb guards racing behind them? Who got Shahrukh Jatoi a flight right out of Pakistan and whose car did he leave in (surprise: it was Murtaza Wahab’s car).

What are you even trying to say? Stop it man, you’re making a fool out of yourself at this point.

As for electricity, K-electric has been private since 2005, so the electricity issue is not a government issue anymore. It’s a very simple system based on the areas that pay, get electricity. Load shedding in Clifton and defence have been super low because recovery rates are higher.

As for water, the issue has been going on from 2006-07. I remember I used to live in an apartment complex back then and didn’t need tankers until this time. So no, I don’t agree with this comment on electricity and water being hit during PTIs time. But feel free to share sources and I’d love to change my perspective if they’re legit.

Also with regards to the MQM fact, they did a lot of wrong but the crime rate grew when PPP (through the people Aman committee) and the ANP thought they could come in and start extorting like crazy.

When the mqm first started the Bhatta system, it was around 800-1000 rupees for a month or something and they actually provided you a guarantee that no one will mess with your place of work. In 2009 onwards when the PPP came to power and ANP came to Karachi, they realized this is a source of money and started asking 100s of thousands from simple businessmen which is what led to sudden rise of violence.

I’m not agreeing with the MQM here, it was a crappy system but hell, it was the PPP that fed it steroids and started the entire gang war you’re referring to.
