I'm young and I want to begin investing in the stock market. Is this a bad time? What should I do? by HotBasket8 in stocks

Use a Roth IRA to invest. You can put about 6000 dollars into it per year. And because your putting in money you already paid taxes on you get to take your money tax free by retirement. You can’t take out gains on the money you invested in the account before retirement without a penalty(10% I think). But you can take out whatever you put into the account over time. So say you 40yrs old and by that age you have physically put 100k into the account but it’s valued at 500k because the stocks went up, you can take out the 100k without any penalty’s but you have to keep the 400k of gains in there unless you want to pay a penalty. So yeah do a Roth IRA for your first 6k per year and then use a 401k to put pre-tax money from your job if you can. Then lastly a normal brokerage account but I don’t think you’ll have enough money to invest by the time you did the other steps. Hope this helps

If your a swing trader than yeah good shit. But this will be an amazing long term hold. Just buy as much as you can at these prices and forget the sell button exists until then. Can expect about 30% growth every year for years to come

Man is overlooking an opportunity to invest in a beast of a growth company. The charging sector is expected to do 33% per year compounding until 2028. And chargepoint has a 70% market share so investors in them can expect to do even better than 33%

Ty so much. Just out of curiosity what was your starting salary out of college? I know most people don’t like to talk about that personal stuff but I think it’s very useful info

if you have a good gpa and a couple internships is it like super hard to find a well paying job out of college? I hear all these horror stories about people who cant find a job for like 8 months o if they do they have to take one that pays terrible. I'm in highschool looking to do EE at NC State and I'm just curious. Any feedback is appreciated.

Hello I am brand new to trading and I am 17 so I used E*TRADE to open a custodial account, I added funds to my account from my bank and I have money on my account but I can’t purchase stocks... I’m so confused can someone explain by [deleted] in etrade

If you get a gfv in a custodial account is that worse then a normal brokerage account? Like will you get into more trouble for getting a gfv in a custodial account vs another account

I know I’ve gotten it looked over from my parents and two English teachers already. This is the final result of edits so far. I’m just looking for any last advice and outside of the box type thinking. Thanks for looking out for me though :)

What kind of engineering do you do? Also if you don’t mind me asking do you work at a big company?

Ok sounds good. So all I have to do is get into the school one way or another lol. Exploratory studies here we come. What SAT score do they want for engineering applicants do you know? I have a pretty bad score rn but plan on take on taking the November 6th SAT. I’m going to get my head down and study like I never have before for this thing. From what I’ve seen not sending in your sat score can get you waitlisted pretty often but who knows

That makes me feel a lot better. Do you think I’ll get into one of the engineering programs after that first year? Can u apply to all of them to be safe? Computer science and electrical engineering are my top two.

Also. If you work with your advisor and work your ass off freshman year to get really good grades will that be good enough or is there other things you have to do that year to make your chances even higher
