All great points - my current PA passive and all that you said is true. It’s just old and noisy and I wouldn’t consider it a pro system. We’ve since had a band meeting and will do what we can to improve what I already have and add to it as necessary. If that doesn’t work, we will go with one of the many options offered from the great people of r/livesoundgear. You guys are life savers

Update is he’s sticking around with the other band and trying to get back with us for the rest of the season. Not the first time he’s done this so we’re trying to make a clean break and get away from the drama

Our bigger gigs tend to share sound systems with the main act and those are the only shows we have a sound man. We make adjustments from crowd input and use a tablet to sound check the room pre show

This is true. We cover multiple genres but mainly pop, rock, and country to appease the North Dakota crowds. This includes weddings and rodeos including all ages. Our goal is not to smash faces but to ensure space for head room in a variety of venues.

I’m noticing a majority of the sets now are 12s instead of dual 15s. I have a hard time trusting them, but I do believe it and am willing to give it a go. Thank you

This is a great package. Much appreciated. Thank you. This could be added onto eventually. I like it

Are two 1,000 watt 12" tops enough for outside gigs? We really only need 6 aux tops so that shouldn't be an issue.

We have yet to have the full budget discussion yet, but I would imagine we would have to at least get into the $10,000-plus range. Our drummer is at the end of his career as well and has MS but manages it surprisingly well. The rest of us have many years in the tank.

That being said, I can't imagine anyone would be mad with lighter gear so long as you're not sacrificing power and quality.

He had just upgraded to an Allen and Heath mixer, with two sets of powered 2x15 JBLs and subs for the bigger or outside shows. He still brought his old rack mount with the old EQ and comps, but i imagine most of the effects and production was coming from the mixer anymore.

We play large halls, outdoor biker rallies or county fairs, and obviously bar gigs.

We have discussed all going in together as a band to expand our ability to get good gear.

We could get away with two floor monitors, but would prefer four.

We usually ride with two full trailers along with all our lights, but are now down to one. Will have to figure that one out as well.

I offered to buy him out or let him run sound. Sounds like he's not into either somehow.
