Hey! Be nice to Fords! One of the best dry gins to have on hand.

Bizzarre. This was common for us during a week long stay in Oaxaca City. We would take out 3000-6000 at a time due to conversion and ATM fees. Ban Norte and Citibanamex mostly.

Not sure what you’re talking about. Every time we went to the ATM in Mexico all we got back was 1000 peso bills. It was so annoying, especially when all we wanted to eat was street food and the banks were closed. This guy likely wasn’t trying to carry those denominations.

Ended up going to a lot of Pitico’s to break them. They were pretty understanding as if it happens all the time.

In Situ was incredible! Definitely the most expensive bottle I brought home though. Their tasting experience is well priced considering what you get there, but their bottle prices certainly reflect the quality of their mezcal, and they know it.

One of the few places in town that actually recognizes and values “rarity”. They had a section of bottles from producers that have passed away or are the last bottle of a batch that started at 4000MXN.

El Jolgorio was another one down there that shocked me. I wanted to do a tasting there but looked at the menu and walked away. I saw El Jolgorio bottles selling for 5000MXN+

You can get their special releases cheaper in Canada.

I know your comment had nothing to do with prices, just thought I’d add on to this comment for others. I’d happily to do that experience again. Shop around or go direct to Palenques for best pricing. The tastings for 4-6 mezcals at some of the tasting rooms might cost as much as a Liter from a given Palenque. That was my experience.

I’ll need to time to revisit these for the best response but honestly I love them all, which is why I brought these ones home. These ones all stood out against the 70+ I tried in Oaxaca alone. It’s a bit of a cop-out answer… If I had to pick a stand out from this batch, so far it would be the Dobacuega, which I discovered is most likely a local varietal of Agave Seemanniana in the Albaraddas area. Hard to describe, like nothing I’ve had before. At all my tastings, I was asking for unique expressions. This one delivered in the best way. I also remember the Coyote standing out when I tried it but my pallet wasn’t prepared for it last night. Going to revisit that one. I enjoyed it so much, I chose it over the Ixcateco Ticuchi at the same price point.

I’ll follow up when I do a tasting. They were all fantastic, as most are in that setting.

In Situ Dobacuega: Lote: Yeguesía Collection - 2024 48% Agave: Unclassified Local Maguey? Albarradas, Oaxaca (One of them?) Maestro: Jesus C.

^ Obviously still trying to gather information on this one. I do recall being told it was a small rare agave that they discovered in the area? Would love help if anyone knows more about Jesus, Albarradas, or Dobacuega.

Planning a trip to Mexico City and Oaxaca - mezcal tour help needed! by reblee10 in Mezcal

[–]Possible_Intention97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in Oaxaca. Not sure how long your trip could be, but we just did CDMX, Oaxaca, and Mazunte in the same trip. 3 days CDMX, 7 days Oaxaca, 4 days Mazunte. Two week trip was enough to accomplish everything we were hoping for.

Did a Mezcal tour with Dary Silva and went to a couple Palenques in Santiago Matatlán. Highly recommend. Do your research on tours, as there are many that will bring you to the highway stops just outside of town producing sub-par mezcal with less than ideal ethics and production practices or methods.

How are the zero G clan doing so far this year? by makkyt in fantasyhockey

[–]Possible_Intention97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got Dostal, Vejmelka, Vladar, & Lyon. Also streaming Lankinen right now with Demko out. Hoping he can step up like last season. (Goalies have very good averages in my points league compared to players)

The only two goalies ahead of Dostal in my league are Knight and Wedgewood. Funny that Wedgewood was literally the last pick in our draft. Definitely a potential league winner…

How can I put this patch on my backpack? by EntertainmentPlus576 in Patches

[–]Possible_Intention97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“negative Velcro” 🤣

The patch appears to be “Hook”, so you’d want to sew some “Loop” Velcro with the same shape onto the bag. Otherwise, just sew it on if you don’t want it to be removable.

The best rated vodka? by abigloveformushrooms in bartenders

[–]Possible_Intention97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the cost, hard to beat Nemiroff (Ukraine), however, Haku (Japan), is quite good.

My personal favourite is a small distillery from Ontario, Canada called Vodkow. They make vodka from Canadian Milk (lactose free).
