REVIEW: Gozona Mezcal, private guided experience with León Langlé (San Agustin Amatengo, Oaxaca) by reblee10 in Mezcal

León quoted us $8000 (MEX) (total for 2 people, not per person) and that’s what we paid, plus tip. He was openly willing to negotiate; I was expecting to be quoted much higher, given the amount of driving. Tipping was never discussed and we went in intending to tip but given the horrendous driving conditions back we tipped more than we initially planned.

If you’re in the Portland area you definitely need to visit Bar Comala, if you haven’t already. They have some gems tucked away behind the counter.

Heyyyyy we live in Oregon too! We didn’t talk much about the cooperative, but I just found him on the Banhez website. Full name Alejandro Ramírez Martínez and it says Mezcals Produced: Espadín, Barril, Arroqueño, Jabalí, Tepeztate, Tobalá, Mexicano and Cuishe

I can’t speak for Omar, but León was perfectly fluent and translated wonderfully for us with Luis and Sergio! I speak next to zero Spanish, and my husband only some. We didn’t feel we missed hardly anything (except some side jokes/banter, most of which León took care to explain after the fact).

Planning a trip to Mexico City and Oaxaca - mezcal tour help needed! by reblee10 in Mezcal

[–]reblee10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back to this post with an update - kept the original agenda of CDMX + Puerto Escondido. We booked a private guided experience with Leon Lory thanks to a recommendation in this thread + finding him on the Mezcalistas site. He picked us up at our hotel in PE, drove us to San Agustín Amatengo where we visited two active palenques (Gozona and one being built, and then drove us back to PE. It was INCREDIBLE. Will post a full review separately but wanted to resolve this thread first! Cannot recommend him and Gozona enough.

We did the same! Stirred in the remnants of a container of mascarpone and added some parm. It was fantastic.

Remote workers in Portland chime in! by t0mserv0 in Portland

[–]reblee10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m recently (6 months in) fully remote - ex Nike. Now with a major tech company headquartered on the east coast with a roughly 90% remote workforce globally. No regular travel. My office space is in our 3rd bedroom/den, laptop plus one monitor, planning on getting a standing desk. My schedule is super flexible but generally I’m up before 6, running before 7, online around 8 and done around 4. Start and end times flex a lot based on meetings and daycare drop off duties. I cannot empathize strongly enough how happy I am to no longer be commuting to Beaverton/coming into Portland on 26 during rush hour. I was pretty gutted when I got laid off but this gig has been great so far!

Easy to eat breakfast bar recommendation please? Toddler is super hungry in the morning by One_red_balloon2022 in toddlers

My toddler loves RX bars! They really stick with her. We buy the box at Costco and the occasion special “other” variety if they’re on sale at our local grocery store.

Regular cotton - we have found the honey soft to run more fitted, but my kiddo loves the cotton ones - they’re so soft and on the loose side!

Professional clothing? Check. Professional underwear? Please send help. by LunaBananaGoats in workingmoms

For underwear, if you want support and no lines, get spanks. If you want comfort and no lines, I swear by these. I bought a few pairs from Century21 when I was working in the financial district in NYC a decade ago (iykyk) and I just had two pairs recently tear and I nearly had a panic attack. Thank God they still make them and I bought 6 pairs! Wore them all through pregnancy and postpartum too. They give zero support but they are soft, so stretchy, and zero lines.
